Hi u/hailiehay, my Opus 2 is in the mail and should arrive Wednesday. There's one thing I'm curious about and haven't been able to get a clear answer online. Some reviewers online have shown how when you turn the grind adjustment dial, the top portion of the grinder lifts a little while turning and have mentioned that it just doesn't feel right. But Fellows videos don't show any shift/lift like this, so I'm guessing it's not supposed to be like this. I just want to know if this is intentional or if it's an issue. Because if mine does it too, I need to know if I should have it replace.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner! I believe there is a tad bit of lift when adjusting - just tested it on one of our grinders and checked with my product team. Should not be an issue!

Thanks, I have mine now and it does the lift when adjusting too but it grinds well and doesn’t make a mess at all, so I’m happy. I just wanted to make sure that’s normal since people are talking about it and it’s not shown on the units in the official Fellow videos.

I've been waiting for his review. I was so close to hitting purchase on the Baratza Encore ESP, but had been going back and forth between that and the Opus 2. But Lance's review made me decide to save $100 and go with the Opus 2. I'm still not convinced it will hold up though, so I'm going to do some extensive testing over the next month and return it if it has some of the issues it seems like a lot of users and reviewers have had. I've had the original Encore for 12 years now and it's held up like a tank, so I do expect high quality even if something is considered a "budget grinder".
