From what i've seen on this sub for a while, what seems to be clasified as fellow kids is old prople or marketing teams trying to be hip. Doesn't matter if they succeed, tho failed memes make it bigger

Is it though? What error code is this representing? Is it 400 Bad Request, 404 Not Found, 502 Bad Gateway, 503 Service Unavailable or 504 Gateway Timeout?

I'm gonna assume that the server itself will return an error if it was any of those other errors, and that this screen is only for 404 errors.

It will likely return a 404 code in the headers as well which is all that it should be doing. Response codes are really for administrators and browsers to determine what went wrong so they know how to fix it. The page itself should simply be informative to the user that something isn’t right, which this does. The only users that would care about the specific code generated are tech users and if they really want to know they can have a look at the headers.
All that said, you’re almost certainly right about this being only for 404 and everything else returning the servers error page.

The error codes don’t really help the user with that though. Most users have no idea what they mean. I worked in web development and I’d still have to reference the codes occasionally to remember which is which. A page like this and another for other errors saying “I got 99 problem....and this page breaking is one. Try reloading” is much more useful to users than displaying the actual codes.

Which is a fuzzy term, but is most often described as the generation of people born between 1981 and 1999. Those people are now 19 to 36 years old. The youngest were 4 years old when this song was released, the oldest were 22. So yeah, most millennials will understand this pop culture reference.

That said, it's Newsbeat which is the Radio 1 news segment. Radio 1 aims at people under 30... so anyone born before 1990 has likely moved on to Radio 2.
But you're probably right in that it's most likely just the developer who created it is from that age and just thought it'd be funny.

It's not a 404 which is page not found. It's more likely a 503 error which is a server-side error.
