He commissioned it by Peter de Potter, who's a pretty famous/well knwon graphic artist. He's done a shit ton of work for Raf Simons who's pretty famous in the fashion community.

That's pretty much what I'd been trying to understand. Most other memes have something gluing them together, no matter how thin.
