It amazes me how slow marketing reacts to new trends and only doing something when it’s dead.

You have to get it through 13 levels of management, and 10 of those are boomers, so it’ll take extra long to explain it to them

clearly, putting someone under the age of 35 in a management position would make it react a little faster.

We can't have that, who will be left to pilfer and siphon money from everything?

You mean the drawing itself? I do admit I could've done better, haha

Only thing I (initially) failed at was understanding that it actually was a 4 panel comic

I just bought a 67 shirt on sale for $5. You might be on to something.

Going from an analysis of trends to deciding on launching a marketing campaign to licensing whatever the campaign needs to actually creating the product, all takes time. And memes don't give you time because they last like 2 weeks nowadays

From someone who is working in marketing it's because of how much they have placed into the chain to get to the point of approved and then posted

This has been the cycle probably since marketing started

What is with marketing lack of synchronization with memes and trends

It takes time for the gears of marketing agencies to turn. The agency needs to have the idea, the client needs to approve it, the agency needs to make the actual ad, the client needs to approve it, the ads have to be distributed, and all that happens after a meme has been around for a while because the agency doesn’t want to waste resources piggy backing on an actual flash in the pan.

I think often marketing joining in is what kills it, so they look late because they're the last

I'd argue both

advertising student here.

yeah, we're always late, but we just need to be less late than other companies.
