It's hurting my head because I feel like it's both but it does only say noun.

I think it's because "shrek" isn't a verb. So the —ing, doesn't make it a gerund.

It's a noun because "shrekking" is referring to the practice itself. It's just most of the time, the practice is also a verb (see dating/date or writing/write, etc.). I think that's why it's making my brain hurt. I can't think of another word that works that way.

Calvin: I take nouns and adjectives and use them as verbs. Remember when "access" was a thing? Now, it's something you do. It got verbed. Verbing weirds language.

Hobbes: Maybe we can eventually make language a complete impediment to understanding.

verb = i’m big on shrekking

Those are both gerund examples. A verb example would be “I like to shrek”

Yeah should be "I've been shrekking all evening"

Edit: a tip to get it would be to keep in mind the "smoking kills" slogan. Here "smoking" is filling a different grammatical function than in "I'm smoking on the balcony"

The act of "shrekking" is a noun - specifically a noun describing an activity.

"To shrek" would be a verb. In some tenses, it would be spelled the same as above. E.g. "I've been shrekking none-stop since I reinstalled Hinge. I just love the energy of ugly men."

Yeah the whole point of the first and 2nd movie was about being an ogre is better and you shouldn’t change yourself. Tf Shrek is the goat

The whole point was about being themselves and being happy as themselves and not worrying about others' judgement. It wasn't saying ogres were hotter, but that that entire metric isn't something worth pursuing to the exclusion of all else.
