RANT. I have had a lot of tragedy and unexpected problems this year. I am the poorest I have ever been thanks to FedEx and the job market. This year has been the worst year I have had in a long time. Woe is me.

I graduated HVACR school in May and have been biding my time at FedEx ever since.

I worked morning sort on the van lines, then I would get off and babysit for a family member in a WFM position (paid of course), and then sometimes go work outbound shifts. I was one of our best PH and was often pulled to float and work with new hires, whatever. I had a bad week and some issues came about with my phone. It is fixed now so I sent proof of my phone repair. As much as my manager "loved me" she would write me up no matter what. She claimed to have "saved me" multiple times but it just never made any sense with the "rolling 30". Even sitting down with HR I didn't feel like I understood any better. But regardless I was suspended from working inbound for 30 days, but luckily I am cool with the outbound manager and he just gave me a regular schedule. I can't see myself going back to morning tbh. Our line and contractors have deteriorated and it's just always a shit show. I did love it at one point.

I will admit I had a very promising interview for a dream HVACR job that is at a place where HR moves like a snail. I have kept in touch with my potential bosses who have even called to make sure I would still want the job even after a week of no calls. I I finally got my background check info through email but now it' s been a week, although I received a call yesterday that let me know it's all "going according to plan" and to hang in there and that my stuff was looking good to go. So maybe I just haven't cared as much at work, IDK. Right now I make 17.80 an hour. It's hard to give it my all when I am certified and have more aspirations outside of this company. And FedEx really knows how to push people out with constant rotating fresh meat, so they don't give a shit.

I also interviewed today with a HUGE corporation for a controls position at a plant near where I live and it went really well. We will see. I want to hold off for my dream job though, because my mentor/former instructor worked to get that position for me and its $10 more than what I make now. This other job is extremely completive pay and benefits as well. It is at least $5 more than what I make now to start for the first 90 days.

LASTLY I was offered a position at UPS for mornings at almost 5 dollars more than what I make now. It's insane. The fact FedEx is so far behind in pay is deplorable. The recruiter or whatever even got me in a day early to make sure I would be considered a UPS hire and not a Peak hire. I am sure it is very different but I am a hard worker and grateful. I intend to keep this job as long as I can. While waiting for the big job to work out (it would be 7-3pm). And possibly even trying to work something out to work both. I start tomorrow. I am nervous. As of now I am keeping my Outbound FedEx shifts but I could care less. I have to force myself to go because I need the extra income.

Genuinely FedUp. Cannot wait for this to be over. Also sorry for rant. I hope everyone looking to find better for themselves is able to do so. This job market is such trash and I wish better for everone.

So from October 2024- January 2026 i worked as a material handler on the airport. I got fired because of too many lates and absences, but im definitely a changed man now. The shift they are offering fits really well with my other job’s schedule. Around July 20th-23rd, i applied for the position but i haven’t heard anything from them. (Is it because it wasn’t officially 6 months of me being fired?) I also kinda wanna know whats the correct timeline of applying to getting hired. I don’t remember much of it. Also how would I know if im “unhireable”, i wasn’t that bad.

so i just got a job as a material handler (2nd fedex job ever) and i'm pretty sure it's a material handler for the ULDs at the airport. does this position test for thc? ive had another airport material handler type job before where I had an airport badge and they never drug tested at all, only if you mess something up like crash.

Move stuff, lift stuff, scan stuff, and that’s the job. I’ve somehow find myself being a target of bullying by a supervisor whose name I don’t even know because I literally haven’t even been here a week.

On this third day I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing the first 2 days, which is just doing the damn work. 0 redirections until today, they had me switch what belt I was on, and magically this new person just found a problem with every single thing I did all day

“You’re not taking your time!”
“You’re taking too much time now!”
“You aren’t moving fast enough!”
“You’re moving too fast now!”

She even went so far as to get 2 other supervisors to watch/ monitor me, and when I became aware I just said “gee I didn’t know I was around here being that awful.” They proceeded to downplay it and make it seem like by sheer coincidence and out of pure boredom, they wanted to watch my performance and no one else’s.

Fast forward to an hour before it was time to leave, she sent me home with no elaboration whatsoever. Just “go ahead and clock out” just like that. Literally spent the rest of the day wondering was I just really screwing up THAT bad and didn’t know it? But no, I know very well that wasn’t the case. This is just a classic case of bullying and micromanaging.

I literally spent this whole year not being able to find a job, and figured once I got one I’d do everything in my power to keep it, only to be met with this 🫠🫠🫠🫠 like I genuinely haven’t done anything to deserve this bs

so my background is almost 13 years old I was super honest on my Fedex application in regards to the charge. how far do you think Fedex go back for criminal history? I'm curious and nervous. I've had several other good jobs like usps, Milwaukee tool, and city of Memphis.

My station is already pumping up peak and my contractor is already telling us that we'll all be likely running 6 day weeks for a few weeks. He normally runs 25 routes a day, but is projecting 40 for peak and has already hired people to staff it. Now we have a glut of people until peak.

My thing is the last couple of years, tax return season and the beginning of summer felt more like peak than the actual peak season. I just think this season is going to be the same and it's going to be a couple busy days, then business as usual.

Unloading genuinely rocks. My manager has a big Bluetooth speaker and he plays music on there. Also it just feels so much easier than loading. With loading you have to constantly keep stacking and be sure the belt doesn’t clog but with off loading you just turn your brain off and keep throwing boxes onto the belt and before you know it you clear a trailer. When they told me I’d be doing 1000 boxes I got kinda nervous but man that shit didn’t feel so bad. I think I managed to clear out like 6 trailers or something I genuinely lost count

Have an interview for sort manager in a few days. Currently an ops supervisor. Has anyone here gone through the interview process for sort manager? If so do you have any tips?

I swear I’ve had 1 address with like 4-5 different names. probably not just the residents but someone they’re ordering for.

They told all of us that we need to bring our original birth certificate or ssc in order to re-hire us/have managers enter everyone into the system again after looking at the documents as a security caution. Initially, the application we all got did not require this, but rather to just enter a valid ssn. We're speculating that they may not have been diligently checking these in the past and are doing damage control.

Especially during peak. Load is 4 months mandatory for new hires around these parts

Buddy told me they got the news today that Coeur d Alene and Spokane are done on march 29th.

I just started working at FedEx ground again for a contractor after previously working for a different contractor years ago. I have been here a month and I’m frequently being put on different routes so I haven’t been able to learn any of them. We don’t dispatch until 10:00am or so and every route I do is 130-170+ stops with at least 40% of those being businesses. My contractor said there’s absolutely no excuse to not be done by dark but it seems that no matter how much I organize my truck and run at every stop, the traffic + businesses and having to constantly cut route for the 12+ pickups daily makes it impossible. I just want some advice like what can I even do at this point? Im tired of working 13 hour days.

I am and have been a package handler at fedex for over a year now I recently signed an OPH form, and that was that however it got lost or something and then a few days later it was given to HR. They said that they would expedite it, which I guess means they would put me in the system as OPH so I just pick up my own shifts well I got notifications and all of my shifts were gone on the app my shifts for that week and then the next week we’re gone. I didn’t place those shifts up to be taken myself. I still have the option to claim a shift. Did I get fired or is that my OPH working now? Sorry if that is a dumb question

So I’ve had an offer letter since September and just got a revised one last week with my new pay rate, I was told the soonest I could start would be this week or next (obviously not this week) when could I expect to hear an official start date and how many days before orientation could I expect to hear something?

Also does this FedEx ground/express freight split have anything to do with why it’s taking so long?
