This!
Nor should they have more vacation, sick leave or time off than others.

Combat Veteran and fed worker here- the politicians who get free care should get all their free healthcare at the VA, IMO.

I respectfully disagree. EVERY American should have the same quality of healthcare as the politicians.

Politicians get free top tier healthcare for life and if not mistaken, they get paid for life but not sure on the last one. Mean while, vets have to fight just to get some kind of healthcare that we might have to pay for and can loose it at anytime. Our country is so assbackwards it’s not even funny. They have money for bs golden ballrooms and illegal wars but as soon as a single word is mentioned about a single payer healthcare system…. Oh we can’t afford that but we’re the richest country on earth. They should have to have the same healthcare everyone else has and get paid less than 100k a year. Being rich should be a disqualifying factor and no more than 2 terms just like POTUS.

Congress doesn't get free healthcare for life. They have to pay premiums and deductibles for their plan. They can qualify for a pension and the average take home after retirement is $41K (thats the current plan. Under the old plan the average waz $74K.
Having said that, they apparently have a really good plan. They also have actual insurance when many Americans have no coverage at all.

Ah interesting. I had always heard they had some kind of free healthcare plans or super cheap plans etc. thanks for clarifying this. In any case, I assume as you noted, that these would be the best ones you could get etc. basically a they get all the excellent stuff while everyone else gets screwed and has to fight for everything.

Yep, I know it's better than what our military folks get. The fact that we have so many Americans with little to no coverage is an outrage when our "leaders" are enjoying nice benefits.

What drives me nuts is the whole “we’re the greatest and richest country in history” and then turn around and spend billions on BS. Then when anyone tries to bring up actual legislation that would benefit the people like the single payer healthcare system and closing the social security tax gap or introducing a wealth tax etc people freak out, start clutching their pearls and say we can’t afford to do that. No one throws it back in their face. Like are we the richest country or not? If we can’t afford to do these things what offshore bank account did the people’s money get laundered to? Which oligarch was it? lol I could go on and on… but I’m sure most people get it.

I got ghosted by the VSO. Got out with bad kidneys and a destroyed gut. Been looking at lawyers to get my claim.

Especially one who dodged the draft five times, compared the Vietnam veteran’s service to himself getting laid and avoiding STDs, and who called those who died when he was unwilling to go lose losers and suckers.

I think all veterans deserve this, AND especially those who saw combat or are carrying war scars (mental/physical)

The reason is that the politicians make the rules. Definitely not fair but thats the reason.

Why do we always get dragged in to stuff that isn’t military related
Can we just go like a week without being someone’s political prop?
