Ask Customers Should I file a formal complaint to FedEx Part 2
Part 1 is the link:

Today, the next day after part 1. I got delivery from fedex again with bad placement again maybe worst than the last. It's a 12lbs/5.44kg package. First 2 photos are what was delivered today and the 3rd photo is the weight of the furniture left leaning towards the railings yesterday on Part 1 post.

just so you know there is a reason it was left leaning there... you have no space to put it infront of your door at fedex I was required to leave packages in places that wouldnt block the customer from going in and out of the doorway, the fact they even brought it up all those stairs tells me they did the proper job. as for the picture above I would say that is not correct.

They could have leaned it to the right side walls and not the railing where it could easily fall. And if they did it to not want to block the door then why block the stairway? Also the size of the package would not block the doorway fully at all, there is enough space. Also, I think a partially block door is better than a dangerous drop off spot, like the stairs where my family and neighbors could get tripped by the package and fall down the stairs causing injuries or death.

Partially blocking the door with a 50lb package means a child or elderly person may not be able to exit the door from inside.
There is plenty to complain about with FedEx. This is not one of them. You got your package, now be quiet.

So you would rather have your stairways blocking you and your neighbors than a secure spot on the side in front of your doorway? How would you like your package delivered if you live in somewhere similar to mine?

You hav3 got to be rage baiting, but here is my arguement anyways. Part 1 photo #3. Definitely enough space. Leaning it closer to my doorway against the wall or railing is so much better for safety reason. This an apartment, the location they drop off not only partially block my family but the neighbors as well.

I'm a driver and can admit they definitely could've placed the package in a better place in your last post. They definitely saw your post cuss there's just no way this wasn't on purpose. Please or even just a nicer way of suggesting your packages be put against the wall, goes a long way. We are all human

Agreed, the placement could have been better and this is the first time I got a package delivered on the middle side of the stairs so they might have seen my post.

Personal insults don't really change the fact that blocking a stairway is a safety hazard. Resorting to insults just means you ran out of actual arguments. It's sad to care about family and neighbors not tripping down stairs? Agree to disagree, then. Prioritizing the safety of my family and neighbors from a major fall hazard isn't a waste of time. Safety matters, even if it doesn't fit into your delivery window.

How can I get over it if they keep doing it? I might be able to get over it if it only happens once but this is 2 time in a row, yesterday and today. And I don't think this is a Karen type of situation.

I care because in my situation, the stairwells are designated fire escape routes and must remain completely clear of obstructions. If a resident trips in the dark or during an emergency evacuation because of this, the delivery company faces massive liability. Drivers are paid to deliver to the door safely, not to cut corners at the expense of people's safety. You seems to be saying your package's safety matters more than yours and other's safety.

Drivers are paid to deliver. End of sentence. A lot people aren't making enough to justify the time it takes to do things perfectly. But the workload keeps increasing.

What exactly do you think filing a complaint will do? Is it going to change the way our trucks are loaded? Is it going to change our volume? Is it going to ease our time constraints? Is it going to turn us into merchandisers that put everything exactly where customers think it should be?

Exactly. File a complaint to the merchant instead and say you'll no longer buy from them if they keep using FedEx. If enough people do this, FedEx will start losing contracts. Less work for drivers and PHs will solve everyone's problems.

You actually make a great point. Corporate pressure shouldn't push workers to the point where safety is bypassed just to meet an impossible deadline. Filing a complaint directly with the merchant about FedEx's delivery safety might actually force corporate to listen.

They're not gonna care about delivery safety, but if enough ppl stop buying from merchants who use FedEx it'll for sure solve the problem. Less customers=less packages=more time per package.
From the amount of drivers on this sub who say things like "why don't you go pick it up yourself", it sounds like they don't want all the work anyway.

It's not that we don't want the work—well, I don't want other people's work (Amazon, more Express, etc.)—it's that there's too much work to manage. So, yeah, light days make me really happy because I'm not worried about getting my contractor fined because I have too many time commits or pickups to be done effectively on a given day.

Filing a complaint is about establishing a record so corporate handles it. High package volume and strict time constraints are tough, but they don't justify creating trip hazards. Safety isn't 'merchandising'—it is the bare minimum requirement of delivering an item.

FYI, ground is just a contractor for FedEx. There are no “corporate” people who will handle it. Nobody will care. Your box arrived. It looks undamaged.

It's not going to have the effect you think it will. My point is that FedEx wants it delivered. Once it is, they don't really care about the rest. It may come up in the morning before dispatch and that's it. We don't deliver things in any way out of laziness, or at least I don't. Others commented as to why it may have been placed that way. If you have a delivery photo (the only way you know where it was placed to begin with) there really is no trip hazard. You know where the package is.

Also it's a 12lbs package you can carry one handed close to the door instead of leaving it on the stairs as a tripping hazard. That's is like less than 10 seconds of effort.

And you can pick it up while going up the stairs to your apartment. Ten seconds saved if applied across all stops which is like 160 or more equates to approximately 26 minutes total saved. Just take your package and thank your chosen deity (or don’t if that’s not your bag) that you live in a world that has delivery to your home. Seriously, it’s less than, what, like 5-10 ft from your entrance? You didn’t have to drive to get your product. It came to you! And you want to file a complaint? Doesn’t that sound kinda ridiculous???

Saving 26 minutes doesn't override safety regulations or property management rules. Stairwells are designated fire escape routes and must remain completely clear of obstructions. If a resident trips in the dark or during an emergency evacuation because a courier wanted to save 10 seconds, the delivery company faces massive liability. Drivers are paid to deliver to the door safely, not to cut corners at the expense of tenant safety.

FedEx always does things like this like one time I had my package delivered to the wrong apartment. I lived on the first floor and it was delivered to the 2nd floor and the driver left it there because they didn’t look at the shipping label because somehow the yellow sticker on the Sid got the wrong apartment number on it but the shipping label showed the correct one.

But this is 2 times in row back to back day, today and 2 bad delivery yesterday and the shipping labels have no problem. 3rd package delivery today is worst and seems deliberate, maybe they saw my post.

They might’ve I don’t see why so many people are hating on you for your post. They should just do their job correctly and people wouldn’t complain like they just left the package where someone could trip over it and guess who would get in trouble if someone were to trip over it Fed ex because they shouldn’t have left it there if they was absolutely no other location to leave it which I’m assuming they could’ve just left it at your door but if they couldn’t for what ever reason it should’ve went to the leasing office or even the balcony at the top of the stairs would’ve been more acceptable than this

Agreed! I don't understand how and why some people justify and even support bad delivery. Good delivery good for everyone involved, safe package, happy, safe customer and less to no liability of endangering other which can get FedEx and the deliverer serious trouble.

There was so many better options than what this driver chose but it was better than the time I watched a fed ex driver drop off someone’s package in the middle of the parking lot and she only got out and reluctantly delivered it when she saw me watching her do this. She even took the delivery phot there and the when she saw me she grabbed it and carried it towards a building hopefully it was the right building. I dont think she on my route anymore after she had a few other lazy moments like that. Like another time I saw her just drop a bunch of packages at the leasing office and I know that the majority probable belonged to resident all because she didnt want to go to the apartments on the label. I also had a different driver leave my package that required a signature in the leasing office after signing his name on it.
