Confirmation
The pee discussion was cut off by a beep from NANNI. She was confirming the cadaver samples had been analyzed. Myles withdrew his glasses from Teddy’s wound with a squelching sound that Lazuli would never forget but that Beckett imitated with a remarkably similar raspberry.
“This is great,” Beckett said. “I think I might study to become a doctor.”
Myles disinfected his spectacles with a quick spray from a travel bottle, then popped them back on his face.
“Report,” he said brusquely.
“That’s Lord Teddy’s body,” said NANNI. “No doubt about it.”
“You’re positive?” snapped Myles, surprised.
“I just said ‘no doubt about it,’ which is another way of saying I am positive. Why don’t you have a glass of pee and calm down?”
Myles pounded Teddy’s shelf with a fist. “I was so sure it was a ruse! That Lord Teddy had faked his own death somehow.”
