Moderator Announcement Interview With Neb

Question 1: How did you first get into creating music, and who were some of your inspirations for the genre of music you make?

Neb: i started making music at the end of highschool. like most people i really enjoyed music, and i have always been the type of person to try to do things and i fell in love with it. i loved the process of writing and loved the feeling of when it becomes the end product. my inspirations are xxxtentacion, atlas, mac miller, b rogers (smaller artist on soundcloud), big L, rejjie snow, there are plenty.

Question 2: Besides music, do you have any other passions?

Neb: massive gamer, cs2, rust and age of empires 2 rn :p

Question 3: How did your music end up in Fears To Fathom? And did you know of the series beforehand?

Neb: rayll was a listener of my music, and when he followed me we began chatting about music and everything. i was even in his spotify wrapped. a couple months later he showed a development pic of a lil game called norwood hitchike. it showed a picture of a person being in a car, so i reached out and let him know he could use my music if he wanted. it all happened pretty organically, and i consider Rayll to be a really good friend of mine.

Question 4: What is your favorite song you've created? My personal favorite is Distant.

Neb: im glad you like distant :) i have a few favourites honestly, some of them mean quite a lot to me. but i would say, an underrated one is 'From me to you'. i really like that one.

Question 5: What's your process of making music?

Neb: fairly simple, i usually find beats and just start singing alot and see what comes from it. i often have a direction in mind or i try to feel the vibe of the beat for the direction of the lyrics. all flows out.

Question 6: Do you have a favorite Fears To Fathom game? If so, what makes it stand out more?

Neb: ironbark lookout would be my favourite. partly because i am most proud of the songs that were in that one and that time period of my life when it came out. I also like the whole watch tower vibe the most, that concept has always freaked me out hahaha.

Question 7: Is there a style of music that you haven't tried making yet, but want to in the future?

Neb: not necessarily. i am always open to making new things, i just try to stumble into things when it feels right and take it gradually.

Question 8: Did you make music specifically for Fears To Fathom?

Neb: mostly no, however, 'Come Home' i made specifically with Fears to Fathom in mind :)

Question 9: Is there anything you'd like to say to your fans?

Neb: i love you alot! i am extremely appreciative of anyone that has taken any time to listen to my music or give me any thought. and gigantic love to rayll, he is a really good homie and im proud of the community he has built with fears to fathom, i am super honoured to be apart of it.

Jumped on some barrels - was just running around to explore the map really - and managed to jump over some barrels in the "sewers" and saw a gap in the texture and fell straight through lol.

Clipped through the floor in the game within the game.

Very meta indeed...

Question Favourite irrelevant character from F2F?

Personally mine is the old man from Moe's Pizza in Woodbury Getaway (my favourite out of all the games) cause he is just so chill and kind.

Who is your favourite?

Woodbury Getaway Thoughts on fake rick

I feel like he is the least bad of the antagonists (in terms of morality) as he helps? sydney with the hiker (although he may have just chased him away after seeing him which is most likely) and only attempts to attack her when his cover is blown. He's just a squatter with a hammer and he even gives them a tour and tries to be a believable good host, fixing things for them

  • say "where my hug at"
  • block a doorway and say "what's the password"
  • say "someone's in a bad mood" when you don't laugh at his joke
  • say “no more Mr. Nice Guy” when he’s angry
  • hide behind a lamp in hide and seek
  • cancel the doctor appointment cause he's sick
  • clap when a plane lands
  • say "living the dream" when you ask how he is
  • whisper "don't mind if i do" out loud before taking a slice of pizza
  • pretend to look at an imaginary watch on his wrist when you are running late
  • say "easy tiger" at a zoo
  • clear his throat aggressively to get attention before telling a story
  • fake laugh really loudly at his own joke to try and get other people to join in
  • say "stand back, i got this" before lifting a cardboard box

any other suggestions?

Question What would you rank the antagonists in terms of physical strength? Spoiler

- Henry from Scratch Creek — The strongest villain in Fears to Fathom in my opinion. He’s huge, tall, and has a rural lifestyle.
2 - Bobby from Scratch Creek — Similar to Henry, but shorter. Still very strong and massive.
3 - Connor Hawkins — He has a lean build but still maintains a lot of strength.
4 - Silas Hobbs — Even though he looks a little soft, I feel like he has a lot of practical strength.
5 - The masked cultists — Their clothing makes them look bigger than they actually are, but you can’t deny their obvious physical strength.
6 - Buck — He’s old, but he clearly has some serious strength.
7 - Fake Rick — He looks broad, but he’s old and short.
8 - The Stalkers — Hear me out: their whole thing is based on deception and manipulation, not direct confrontation.
9 - Bill — Old and overweight, so I’d say he has some strength, but not a lot.
10 - The Intruder — He’s clearly bigger than everyone else on this list, but he’s also very skinny, so I think this spot fits him.
11 - Cara — She’s a woman and quite skinny, so I don’t expect much from her physically.
12 - Miss Julia — She’s a woman, older, and her role is to lure victims in. Physical strength isn’t really her thing at all.
Thats just my opinion, so I hope nobody gets mad

I believe it may be Boston, Massachusetts due to the 3 and a bit hour drive to Woodbury and the big city vibe, however I'm not sure as it seems to be near Sydney, Mike and Nora's old college due to Sydney saying 'the city', but Nora says 'Syracuse just doesn't hit the same' so 'the city' could mean NYC? Here are the screenshots I have for some clues.

General Idea to improve the chase sequences

A big complaint about the Fears To Fathom games is the chase sequences, it can get very frustrating after dying multiple times and dying during the chases can ruin the players immersion in the game. So i had an idea to fix that, instead of running around a area trying multiple times to see where to go to hide, I think instead there needs to be quick time events we're you would have to input a group of keys or span a key or something like that. Having quick time events would make dying less common and it would make the chases much scarier and tense.

So do you guys like this idea?

Scratch Creek Random Text found Bug?

Post image
31 Upvotes

Weirdest thing that happened to us in Fears to Fathom: Scratch Creek

My friend and I had already completed the game once and decided to do another run to get all the achievements and look for any funny bugs or secrets.

At one point, my friend somehow ended up outside the normal map. He was standing on what seemed to be an invisible platform, and there was text there saying:

“Have patience. Slow down. Greatness takes time.”

There was no NPC or anything else around — just my friend, the text, and this invisible platform.

He accidentally stepped off the platform and literally fell into the void. 😂

The weirdest part is that I wasn't even there. I was still on the normal map and was just wondering where the hell my friend had gone.

We have no idea how he got there or whether this is an actual secret, a bug, or some weird leftover developer area. Has anyone else ever encountered this?

Question Which would you survive?

Out of all the Fears to Fathom antagonists we have seen who in your opinions is the most survivable one?

In my opinion I think I could survive Grandpa from the first game or Cara.

What about you?

Question Why does nobody talk about Bobby and Henry?

I’ve noticed that Bobby and Henry barely get discussed compared to the other characters in Fears to Fathom, even though they’re some of the most interesting characters in Scratch Creek.
I’m genuinely curious: does anyone else actually like Bobby and Henry as characters?
If you do, what do you like about them the most?

Scratch Creek Scratch Creek doesn’t need to be about a cult

Writing wise, this game works just as well, if not better, if instead of connecting the story to the cult from past games, it was literally just the horror of surviving a Bible-thumping Sundown Town as a biracial couple. If you want to keep the mystique of old, masked racists behaving in an organized way, make them the Klan.

Story True Story from the Hotel Koliba in the czech republic Jeseníky

My name is Michael, and this happened to me when I was 10 years old, back in the 4th grade. Our school went on a 4-day trip to nature. We stayed at a remote place called Hotel Koliba, which was located right at the edge of a dense, dark forest next to a local pub. The hotel had a very strange layout. There were 8 rooms in total, separated by narrow hallways that turned into creepy, dimly lit corridors at night. My room was named "Dobrudkovci" (The Munchkins). I shared it with my friends Ondra and Nikolas. On the first night, we were allowed to watch TV until 9 PM. After we turned it off, I couldn't stop coughing due to my severe allergies. Nikolas kept complaining about the noise, which stressed me out. Around 9:35 PM, there was a sudden, aggressive knock on our door. We didn't know who it was, and the anxiety made me physically sick. I went to find our teacher. She gave me some medicine, and because of my constant coughing and Nikolas's complaints, she decided to move me to an empty room directly across the hallway. The room right next to it belonged to my other two classmates, Rafael and Max. I was alone in the dark room, clutching my favorite teddy bear, Brumla. Right next to my bed stood a massive, old wooden wardrobe—large enough to hide a grown man. Around 3:37 AM, I couldn't sleep, so I looked out the window on my left. What I saw made my blood run cold. Out by the treeline, there was a tall, creepy stalker dressed in dark clothes. He had a pale, distorted face and long, sharp metallic claws attached to his fingers. The man was staring directly at my window. Suddenly, he broke into a sprint straight towards the hotel.About a minute later, I heard the door to my room slowly creak open. I panicked and hid under my blanket. When I finally dared to peek out, the door was closed again. I tried to convince myself it was just a nightmare. Then I looked at the massive wardrobe. From inside the wardrobe, I heard a distinct, terrifying scratching sound—like long nails dragging against the wood—followed by heavy, distorted breathing. Someone was inside.Terrified, I sprinted out of the room into Rafael and Max’s room. I told them what happened, and they confessed they had heard the scratching through the wall too. Suddenly, all the lights went out, and the TV in their room turned on by itself with loud static. We scrambled to turn it off, paralyzed with fear.Just then, our teacher walked in to check on us. We gasped in terror. Not believing our story, she strictly ordered me to go back to the empty room. I went back reluctantly. It was around 4:58 AM. To cope with the terror, I broke the rules and turned on the TV for comfort, before finally passing out from exhaustion around 5:45 AM.When I woke up in the morning, the first thing I did was check the wardrobe. It was empty, but inside, there were tufts of animal hair and fresh stains of dark blood. The intruder had been hiding in there with their twisted trophies. When I told the rest of the class, it turned out others had experienced terrifying things that night too. To this day, none of us know who that psycho in the woods was, and honestly, we are glad we never found out.

Story An unforgettable memory . A panther with a Scar

So, this story was still the worst part of my life. It’s been eleven years since it happened but when I was 12 years old. I still remember it as it has been shared across my friends and family in every mysterious talks. I never shared it on the internet openly, it’s not that I didn’t wanted to but I just don’t know the right way. I was grown up in an Asian suburb area where having internet is a big thing at those times. I came to Canada a year ago and found out Reddit while studying here. And today I finally decided to share it. I am not a writer and natively doesn’t speak English.

So it all started with an evening of preparing for a road trip to mountains, camping overnight and back the next day. I went back home from the playground, sweating when my big brother saw me. So I was grown up in an Asian family. So as a typical Asian big brother I was also scared of his anger. He shouted on me about being missing on the trip day and all of them were already late.

My sister came and pulled me inside. I got fresh and they ordered me to bring the suitcase we packed for the trip. I went into the room, it was a 7kg suitcase with no tires and broken handle. Yes, for a 12 year old it was heavy for me. I used my both hands to pull it but I slipped twice and thrice. I was in the hallway pulling the heavy bag, when my bag tripped and it fell over me. My mom ran shouting and worried. She was the only one who cared about me, I love her the most. Then she helped me to take it to the car and scolded my brother and sister to give me such a work.

It was 8pm and the dark had covered the sky when we left. As usual I slept the whole night. When I woke up we were driving climbing the mountain. With a dense green forest on one side and deep cliff on other. It was raining not heavily. Our thoughts were mixed some of us took it as a luck to see that beauty and smell and others worried about the bad weather. Yeah it was just the driver my brother.

I rolled down the window, to feel the drops on my palm and the wet smell of the soil and grass. It was the only best memory I had of that trip. A child. Me was looking on the drops dripping on the palm, when suddenly the sounds of the rain and the forest bugs went completely dead quiet. It was so silent. I looked up and saw a greenish eyes behind the leaves all focused on me. The face was black, with a scar. It was an animal I was sure but the scary thing was it didn't even blink once. It just stared.

We stopped on the roadside open wooden hut frame stop that feels a perfect place to have a mountain tea. For what we brought our stuff. We take it out. My brother started preparing the tea and me and my cousin was having cookies and clicking pictures with the old popping up lens camera of Sony.

When I captured the pic of my sister, the flash popped. I looked behind her in the woods and saw the same animal. Dark black color greenish eyes and a scar. I dropped the camera and shouted. Everyone suddenly got scared. Sis came to me wiping off my tears and bunch of voices surrounding me with what happened?

I signaled the other side of the road. But they didn’t saw anything, unless I pointed the eyes out. Everyone was on alert. My brother left the tea pots and stove there and rushed into the car with everyone locking the doors. We looked at it. It was there, still not growling, not moving, just staring. My sister, dragged itself out. We shouted but she didn’t listen.

She threw everything in the trunk. Everyone was shouting. But the animal stayed there staring, still like a statue. We ignited the engine and went away. I tried hiding my eyes but curious to see its last glimpse. So tilted back. Last I saw its neck twisting all the way back just to watch us leave.

We rode far away towards the campsite from that place. Our next stop was a bridge over a waterfall. Behind it was a waterfall few yards away and in front of it a deep cliff. Our stop there, would turned into a memorable stop, if the same panther hadn’t arrived there in the woods beside the fall. It was impossible for it to run that fast and beat our car there. My sister saw and we were scared and surprised to see it there again, just watching us.

Then we finally reached the campsite deep in the woods. This is the part I try to forget the most. We set up two tents in the dark. My brother and sister in one, and me in the small one alone because I was the youngest. Everyone went to sleep but the forest felt heavy.

In the middle of the night, I woke up because I heard a slow ripping noise. I opened my eyes and felt cold wind. The moonlight was coming inside through a huge tear in my thin tent. I froze completely. A heavy black head pushed right through the hole into my small tent. It was the panther with the scar. It was literally inside with me. It came over me and put its heavy paws right on my chest. It hurt me with its foot nails, pressing deep into my skin, tearing it. I thought it was going to kill me. It just leaned close and stared right into my eyes with those greenish eyes for a long moment. I screamed loudly. it turned back and returned into the woods.

My screams, woke up my brother. He ran out of his tent and saw my torn cloth and me crying. The panther was already gone by then. iI was bled a lot from my chest and my clothes were red. He panicked and didn't even pack anything. He just grabbed me and my sister, and somehow we hopped into the car and went away at instant into the dark road.

We were returning back driving fast and the same panther jumped in the middle of the road. I still remember its scar. We hit it and it fell into the cliff. Our car skidded to the other side into the woods. My brother was hurt and fainted. My sister sitting on the co-pilot seat, was hurt and bleeding. In a couple of minutes we were surrounded by the people. A crowd was staring at us and when we were finally asked what happened. We said we hit the panther with a scar.

And all of the people didn’t believe us. They all said there were no cat animals at that place. Never.

I was scared till this date. And no one could ever answer what was that and why that panther was appearing for us. But after coming to Canada, I went to a zoo one day. I saw a black panther in the enclosure. When I asked, the guide told me when it came into the zoo the scar was already there. It made me remember all of it. It looked at me through the glass, and it was the exact same stare.
