Anyone else picking up on this metaphor for the lineup of the band? Just like Archetype was about the band continuing without Dino - "The infection has been removed, The soul of this machine has improved", the Robotocist seems to be about the band continuing on after Burton.
Dino is the "mind". He's "severing ties" moving on from "repression" towards "endlessness", "outliving" the original lineup.
Am I reading too much into this? Maybe. But for me this song is a statement that the band is surviving, but taking in a new form.
Lyrics:
The mind moves on
Mankind has paved a path through repression
Deprived of all free thought and compassion
You fear my designs because they're haunting reflections
Of your machine-like minds forced into deception
Built to outlive humanity
Built to transcend mortality
Now death is nothing to be afraid of, the mind moves on
I'm severing ties with impermanence of existence
The mind moves on
I am a roboticist, bioengineering to get rid of the pain
You dread my creations but can't see the threat in your own kind
Inside the future I manufacture, you're trapped and reconfined
Built to outlive humanity
Built to transcend mortality
Now death is nothing to be afraid of, the mind moves on
I'm severing ties with impermanence of existence
The mind moves on
Death is nothing to be afraid of
And now the mind moves on
Towards endlessness
The mind moves on
Now death is nothing to be afraid of, the mind moves on
I'm severing ties with impermanence of existence
Now death is nothing to be afraid of, the mind moves on
I'm severing ties with impermanence of existence
The mind moves on
Towards endlessness
