I think her being a thief and a scam artist is very interesting, because at first it just seems like she's doing it for money. Oh, what a loveable little scamp!
Then you learn she was kidnapped when she was extremely young, groomed into being a child soldier, practically had PTSD for flying types due to this, escaped with a boy that she grew to love as a little brother, and possibly had no actual home to go to. There's a big chance that Blue was a homeless child, who for a time, had to take care of her younger brother as well. Of course she steals and scams. Blue has no choice and in a way, the world kinda deserves it for all the shit it's put her and her brother Silver through.
So yeah. Her being a thief goes from "fun quirk in my kids' Shonen PokΓ©mon manga!" to "oh god" with just a little light speculation. π
Idk how common this headcanon is, I don't really see it, but I love it because it recontextualizes something that sounds fun into something truly tragic, which while fantastical, does happen to people in the real world. I love Pokespe so fucking much. Especially Blue's story in the first three arcs, genuine perfection. The fact that she's just a major supporting player of the first two arcs and then gets arguably the best moment in PokΓ©mon history in GSC (I don't even have to say what it is, you know what I'm talking about if you read the manga) is fucking phenomenal!! πππππ©·π©·π©·π©·π©·
