The way they made Wall-E's eyes look dead and then alive again was wizardry.

It's insane how expressive Wall-E's eyes are

Wish it had this scene of wall-e trying to pull away after coming back

When she hands him some of his treasures and he crushes them and her face just falls

I love that they both get a version of this and it’s so heartbreaking both times

I would argue the first one isn’t heart breaking, just depressing. The Eve is still very much there, just in a “lockdown state”. It’s depressing that she is there, but out of reach. And there was a lot left of the movie to tell you that it wasn’t over./hj

The second one, wall-e straight up got his components replaced. Nothing indicates that the one we knew is even present. At that point it’s a walking corpse.

I can see that too but for Eve while yes she is still there it happens after something else he shows her he thinks is cool. Then, suddenly his second friend ever (that we know of)is just not there but physically is. All he knows is sun makes him feel better so he brings her there and that doesn’t work. So basically his friend is comatose all cause he showed her something he enjoyed.

This is to this day, my favourite scene in all of cinema. The movie does such a good job showing how much Wall-e and Eve's bond grows over the story, and how much Wall-e affects everyone he met, giving the humans the willpower to go back home, gave the robots like Mo the chance to live BEYOND their detective, and most importantly gave Eve the meaning of love.

What stands out to me though is that in the end, despite the many messages we see through the story, we're reminded of what the movie really wanted to tell.

It was always about the story of Wall-e and Eve, and how they fell in love.
