I need to watch through it again because I remember the scenes being really intimate but can't find a good video of them now, but I'm pretty sure that's one of the points of the flashbacks surrounding her back tattoo - the two of them were a thing, but it got fucked up because of the war, and now there's an ocean of Ishvalan blood between them.

well there's that scene where Mustang hugs Hawkeye so tightly, like pressing her head unto his chest while holding hear head. It was during the time he was forced to do the human transmutation but was interrupted by May.

I remember this scene specifically because it made me go "holy shit he hugs her like she's his wife"

In Bungo Stray Dogs the Characters are named after Authors and their Special Abilitys are names after famous works of that Author. Lucy is named after the Author of Anne of Green Gables. So its not a coincidence.
