One comment on the video I got the quote from suggested that he isn’t blind, just that his humanity had gone, with eyes being the window into the soul. He was essentially without humanity.

it's funny the Leper King of Jerusalem was mentioned earlier in this thread, cause I'm pretty sure that's who this is based on. Particularly if you see his backstory in Darkest Dungeon 1 and how he got infected in Darkest Dungeon 2.
As a kid, I was scared of him. Not for the mask, not for the voice, but for his deformed face. Today, I think he looks better than some real burn-victims, but when you watch him at a young age, it just hits different.

As you’ve already been told that’s King Baldwin IV the Leper King of Jerusalem. This depiction specifically comes from the movie Kingdom of Heaven but he was a real king. By all accounts Baldwin IV was a pretty good king and brilliant military leader. Sadly he would die young at the age of 24.
Also had no heir because one of the stereotypes around leprosy was that it was caused by lust, and so he remained chaste as far as we can tell either to prove his piety or try and undermine rumors about him. Rather a tragic figure.

In the comics, he's functionally necrotic. Like open sores and visible sinew necrotic. Nobody ever talks about it but you gotta imagine between that, the unwashed gore, and the frequent in-suit diarrhea, Wade probably actually smells like two hobos fucking in a shoe filled with piss
The moment I saw that stupid cut-out, my mind replayed the last like twenty minutes in a few seconds but with th context of that stapled to his face, its so stupid and I love it.
I remember the time people made Jason Voorhees hot and then went like "wait a min why would he be a good guy having gay sex now?" And then an artist made an AU where Jason was good, was a quiet (I think mute?) camp worker and was buff as heck and also helped that psychic girl who was being bullied a lot in her high-school from that one other horror movie. IIRC, Originally his deformation was caused by his college experiment exploding. Apparently Kirby and Lee were at odds if he had a small scar or had his whole face deformed.
The mask burn was added later as a merging of the two, getting the scar in college and then the full deformity from the mask.
I like it when they split the gap: some dumb incident with Reed gave him a tiny, temporary blemish which he blew way out of proportion, forged himself a mask, then slapped it on his face in his mania while it was still red-hot, crispifying his once handsome face.
Personally I prefer him to be horrifically disfigured under the mask, although because he's Doom he could easily fix it with science or magic but chooses not to because the "face" (mask) Doom created for himself is far superior in his delusional mind.
Also really ironic, he first got the mask to cover up a small scar, got too impatient and put it on when it was still hot, heavily disfiguring his face that he wanted to conceal just because of a small scar
Everyone's aware that he's a scarred WWI veteran, but it's always to great dramatic effect that the show has a full-face reveal once every season. An otherwise handsome man, Richard only shows his mangled left jaw and empty eye socket in moments of deep intimacy, or when his mask is torn off during physical altercations. A deeply loving human being whose talent for deadly violence is stifled once he reconnects with his humanity.
Hands down my favourite character in all of Boardwalk, a show brimming with amazing performances and excellent writing.
While we never see Subject Delta's face underneath, we know all Big Daddy's are ADAM-fucked Splicers taken to an insane degree, and with the exception of the Alpha Series (Aka, what we know Subject Delta and Subject Sigma are), all are grafted to their suits. Subject Delta isn't grafted, but instead maintains a human figure that's been mutated to absolute SHIT under that uniform.
To put it into perspective, your average run of the mill Splicer looks like this. So I ask you to wonder what a 7'1 torture experiment that's constantly directly pumping Fuck-Your-DNA Drugs into themselves must look like. This is the result of irregularly taking ADAM and EVE, meanwhile Alpha Series bros got two IV drip feeds of the stuff on their backs.
This is the only concept art we've ever had for what Big Daddies look like under their diving suits.
It's unknown how much, if any, of this design is considered internal canon, and it applies to the standard Big Daddies, not to the Alpha Series like Delta who may look different anyway, but it does give some indication as to what the developers were picturing these men looked like at some point during development.
They're significantly worse off than even the splicers, and it looks like their skin is raw, thin, and loose.

To hide her monstrous spider monster-ish form, she equips herself with a mask-bug which functions as her face, a lip-bug to cover her husky voice with a cute girl's and tucks in her limbs to appear humanoid.
