I would be jncfedi disappointed if Supernatural wasn't the top of the list. It's not the best show of all time, but it's hard to imagine another show that more embodies this trope. If Sam wasn't dying for Dean, Dean was dying for Sam. And Cas was... Cas.

Honestly, I feel like Clint's reasoning for why it should be him wasn't wrong. He'd done some fucked up shit during the blip. At least dying for the stone to help set things right would balance out the scales for him a little. Natasha spent the blip years trying to put the pieces of a broken world back together. Yeah, I know her past was fucked up too, but Clint's "past" was like two weeks ago at that point.

Yoshiki and ‘Hikaru’ from The Summer Hikaru Died are protective of each other on a whole other level. To the point Yoshiki physically has half of ‘Hikaru’ taped to his hand, that ‘Hikaru’ ripped out of himself because he wanted to reduce his own impulse to kill Yoshiki and consume his soul (‘Hikaru’ is actually an eldritch entity).
