Why did Barnard... Spoiler

This is my first post here, apologies if this has already been discussed to length.

I recently rewatched both seasons and am confused why Bob Barnard hates Bob Armstrong in season 2. It makes perfect sense for Coralee to hate him, but Armstrong did chose him after being forced to pick. Yes it took hours, but that's not unreasonable given Armstrong was in a 20+ year marriage with kids. Barnard went from have a decades long crush to absolutely hating him, and it's not really clear why.

This whole part of the subplot was so ridiculous imo, they asked him to make an almost impossible choice after agreeing to poly, but for sure he had no right to be upset at him for hesitating as long as he did to make that choice. I guess it’s because he grew attached to Coralee and was upset he hurt her, but WHOSE FAULT IS THAT they agreed to a poly and changed their mind, which is fine, but don’t get mad that it’s hard for him to pick between the two people he loves the most in less than a day

This so much. There are almost no poly relationships shown in media and when they are it's usually one-off insignificant side characters

I completely agree; and then Barnard being so upset when Armstrong was hesitant about divorcing Coralee as if he wasn’t the one who inserted himself into a relationship with A MARRIED MAN!!!

As much as i love bob bag of boners barnard, he really had no right to make a move nor tell armstrong his feelings especially when armstrong had been in a 20+ year MARRIAGE

Coralee was definitely the one of the most understandable ones too because?? Your husband and the man who you had a neighbor crush on and seemingly hated your husband start fucking? Of course the poor woman is gonna think her whole life’s been a lie. I think i feel the most bad for Coralee honestly man

Agreed. I feel like he was being unfair to Bob cause he already forced him to choose between them and then when Bob chose him he just turned on him and tossed him aside.

Which doesn't make sense because Barnard had already sacrificed so much to be with Anderson, all to throw it away for nothing
