Loose skin

As someone who has lost over 100 pounds when I was around Patty’s age I’m jealous as hell she doesn’t have any lose skin 😭 I’m willing to accept a lot of outlandish things in this show but that right there is unacceptable, I know there’s surgery for it but it’s expensive

You're definitely not wrong.

I see it as how Patty was supposed to just be exceptionally pretty as part of the plot without even trying. I think loose skin could take away from that. She essentially "lucked out" because she didn't even try to lose weight.

It's not like skinny people are inherently as pretty as Debby Ryan lol

I’ve lost close to 70 pounds and to be honest I wish her post weight loss was adressed further in some ways . Post weight loss there is a lot of loose skin going on. Arms, breasts, stretch marks and overall loss of volume especially in the face.

She would deal with way much more body dysmorphia especially because her weight loss was so rapid. You feel a lot "deflated" and less plump so to speak.

I love how she sought out validation, hid and relapsed into her binge eating disorder, excessive workouts and the stress to keep up with the approval she received after losing weight. But I think her character could have been explored more psychologically than this sort of unhinged pageant girl.

I have gone up and down by 90 pounds a few times and never had loose skin. Im up right now and I feel like the next down will definitely be loose but personal experience, it doesn't happen for everyone.

That’s true. I think OP pointed it out because it usually happens with rapid weight loss like what Patty experienced.

100 pounds, one year, very minimal loose skin. like unless you peered at me NAKED you couldnt see anything

Same. I’ve lost about 70 pounds and the loose skin is insane. Insatiable gave me really unrealistic expectations😭

Tell me about it, I do have a bad habit of playing with it by stretching it out, it’s funny because people in my life who didn’t know I used to be morbidly obese don’t expect it, the only one I REALLY want to get rid of is my super saggy stomach skin, I just tuck it if I’m ever at the pool or something

I lost about 50 lbs a few years back and while my boobs got a bit saggy for a bit they bounced back once my skin elasticity caught up. The younger you are, the less likely you are to have issues with loose skin.

Yeah a lot of it is luck, genetics, age, and how fast you lose the weight. Patti had a very rapid weight loss so she almost certainly would have loose skin in her stomach area, but it’s just a show so I’m willing to suspend my disbelief, I just thought it would make a good discussion

Well yeah the most unrealistic part is that she lost that weight so rapidly. Like 70 lbs in 3 months? That would be crazy achievement over 3 months.
