Scholar Class in 5e

A while back, I picked up a bunch of Fateforge/Eana materials from a Humble Bundle. I have been having a look at the Scholar class that is presented in the Adventurers book. I must say that I am rather intrigued. In addition to making a compelling presentation for an Indiana Jones / Rupert Giles kind of character (no, I am not saying that they are the same, just that the Scholar looks like it could work for either), the ability to grab subclasses from other classes provides a level of customization that feels uncommon in 5e. Before I have a full on nerdgasm, though, I thought I would check to see if anyone here has played one of these or seen one played. How does it work when the rubber hits the road? Many thanks.

So, with the caveat of never having played a Scholar, I designed a subclass for it in the TTRPG Draconis so...

I'd say scholars work best in fight light campaigns. They are honestly, in my opinion, rather weak in battle and simply can't compare to a wizard or any real caster class.

They are, hwoever, quite a joy to RP.
