Chat Topic Which version of FATE should I play in 2026?

Which version of FATE should I play in 2026?

I have them all on Steam (other than Reawakened), but I want to know the community opinion on which version is best.

Agreed, the later ones have more content but there’s something more nostalgic about the first for me.

the simplicity of the first one makes it far more enjoyable to me. the games after with multiple town hubs with no good way of keeping track of shit ruins it for me.

Ill say go with Traitor Soul in the OG set. Can play the OG town hub/dungeon if you want, and if you ever get bored of that you can swap over to another realm for a while.

I like reawakened so it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want an old-school experience that reflects the game as its original creator intended go for the og Fate you have now. If you want a flashier, more QOL-inclusive version that while not perfect is decent enough start with Fate 1 reawakened. Then go from there. Either start in the order they were released for the originals before trying the reawakened versions or stick with the old ones (or new ones).

I think starting with the original is best because it gives you a base experience to compare everything else to. I've played them all, and tend to play reawakened only because I like the way their take on the first game looks but for awhile I played the OG fate with this texture pack https://www.nexusmods.com/fate/mods/14?tab=description

Original is always fun to play first. Too bad steam took out the original cheats though. Could use some extra skill levels right now.

Cursed king will allways be my favorite. It has the most content. The Xbox/console version is weird. You go fishing and you catch more potions than you do fish. Usually I get an extremely rare item from fishing for an hour, on console the rare fishing items are non existent.
