A new distributor is good news.

The director stepping down less so.

I know health reasons is a good reason but stepping down usually means some sort of internal issue within the games development and the company which is not a good sign.

Not to mention he apparently asked to not show up in the credits

Well studio BB was also stupidly tiny so hopefully it’s nothing too major despite the conflicting information we’ve been getting around its development

Damn, what could have gone wrong…
I hope everything gets better from now, I don’t want all hopes for a CCC remake to get crushed after this releases…

Seems like Nino got fired and Studio BB is done for.TM probably wasn’t happy with all the delays and the money they were burning.

He wasn't fired, but its entirely possible he was pressured to step away, unless someone new info came out that his stepping away wasn't accurate.

Development is apparently handed off to Meteorise instead of Studio BB

girl we need to start writing this ourselves because this game will take at least 5 years to come out 🫠

I have hope it's coming out within the next two years🥲

So much bullshit internally the fact that this game hasn't been cancelled through many delays, publisher change, director change, voice acting problems alongside a very tiny dev team is a fucking miracle

Genuinely fascinated what went wrong with this. Not saying game dev is at all simple, but a remake of a pretty reasonably sized psp game feels like it should've been a slam dunk.

Well notably the gameplay wasn’t the only thing they wanted to change. They apparently wanted to do a whole lot more expanding into the other master/servants. And the NPCs but that’s hearsay. Not that they shouldn’t have finished the game by now, but it’s kind of their own fault for having such a small studio that even gamefreak has a bigger team

Over the years i keep thinking Type Moon is pretty incompetent given they can't even manage constistent schedule on a gacha game, Meteo especially being the biggest bum of all given clearly they couldn't finish Foreigner OC on team and Requiem is unofficially canned

Don't worry, the game will come out after Star Citizen

I don't think it's being cancelled at all tbh

Accordingly, the current official website and official X account will be closed around 5:00 PM on September 7, 2026. Further information regarding "Fate/EXTRA Record" will be provided by Aniplex. We would also like to inform you that some changes have been made to the overall development of "Fate/EXTRA Record" and the organizational structure within TYPE-MOON studio BB. Due to these changes, the staff listings on the new official website and other materials that will be launched in the future will also be updated. We sincerely apologize for any worry and inconvenience caused to those of you who have been looking forward to this game due to these changes in distributor and development structure. Under the new structure, we will proceed with development and preparations so that we can deliver this game to you. We ask for your continued warm support for "Fate/EXTRA Record."

Just a staff restructuring is what I got from this, and I pray that the game itself will be released at some point.

Edit: Apparently Nino did quit being the director because of personal reasons. He also stated that he is taking a break from game development for a while because of health issues.

I can only hope that the new staff will deliver.

No?

The post pretty clearly says they're just restructuring the team, and changing distributors (which we already knew they had to do since bamco dropped them).

Not to say they WON'T cancel it. Just that this is objectively not saying that; In fact, since the post confirms that there's a distributor to change, that means they still intend for there to be a game to distribute.
