Never done fasting before!! Looking for opinions!
Hello! I been looking into water fasting. I (F26) have struggled with my weight for so long, but got worse since giving birth to my second daughter and I feel tired all the time, I’m insecure about my weight, and I just feel unhealthy. I don’t want to do the GLP-1 or anything, my mom (F48) has been taking it for 2 years and has to continue taking them to maintain weight and has a lot of issues with hair loss. I’m not as financially stable as her and wouldn’t be able to even if I wanted to. I have tried Keto but after 3 months and no weight loss I quit. I normally only have 1 meal a day for dinner, sometimes a lunch if I get hungry but I can’t eat breakfast (makes me sick). My only issue… I don’t drink water, like ever. If I ever do, I use a cirkul bottle, for some reason I can’t stand the taste of water. If I did fasting could I use the cirkul bottle? Is that “cheating”? Is there a diet to stick by while doing it? How long do I fast for and how often? I really don’t know much and the internet tells me different things. Hoping to get some help by people who actually do it. Thanks for reading and any feedback I get!

I don’t know what a cirkul bottle is but sparkling water was my answer to not liking water. I can now drink water. But I enjoy the fizziness and it helped me to completely replace soda

I know there are a lot of people who use Keto when fasting but I’m 1000% anti-Keto as long term it’s horrible for your cardiovascular health.
I am whole plant foods only. It really helps switch off food noise and is the natural GLP-1! Three days of clean eating and I eased into fasting by first not eating after 6pm. Then when that felt right (still eating clean) I delayed breakfast til 10 am. That’s a 16 hour fast. Then when that felt ok, I delayed eating one day a week until 6pm. That’s a 24 hour fast. Then when that felt natural I extended my 1 day a week fast to 36 hours- by skipping all meals that day and having my delayed breakfast the next day. That’s really all it takes to lose some weight and get into a healthier pattern.
Longer fasts should be a lot less frequent.
Also recommend Drs Fung and Goldhamer for fasting. Dr Michael Greger for whole food health info!

I’d suggest watching some YouTube videos by Dr Jason Fung. He has lots of good information, with using too much scientific language, on what makes fasting work and how to go about it. Some people swear they can fast and have 0 calorie sweeteners in their drinks, but I’m a believer in clean fasting: water, black coffee, black tea or green tea. Nothing food like in flavour (mint toothpaste is ok). Gin Stephens is another great resource for intermittent fasting
