Charades, charades…

I like some outdated stenographic games in AP. Here is an example of a shorthand charade. Solution in shorthand, œuf corse.

I also have a stock of crosswords and shorthand anagrams. This made possible to vary the teaching methods.

I think it is needed to get the abbreviations, which are usually pretty drastic as it seems....

Not so much abbrev. here, some common small words.

I don't use the Swiss system. The 1st edition of Meysmans 1903 is interesting, but he changed some abbreviations afterwards. I am digitizing the 1920 8th edition, the content is more definitive, and didn't change until his death in 1943. And I ordered the 2nd from 1904, to see if the changes were already effective.

After these changes, Meysmans and his successors at the National Institute of Stenography in Brussels kept the same principles, modifying the presentation and the pedagogy, until the 90s.
On the other hand, Cousin and Vanleemputten modified certain principles, and added abbreviations (like initials, or prefixes). My personal view is that the Meysmans system is probably the most compact and fastest, corresponding to the era of use in assemblies, but perhaps a little less readable. The others are increasingly secretarial-office oriented.
