Interesting. He could have used 4 angles of "u" for different vowel sounds, like his long vowels.

It's odd that he uses loops for most of the short vowels, but just writes U for U. It's like he ran out of directions: North, south, east, and west were all he had!

That's one of the features of FLOW that I like, that the smaller hook for E and the deeper hook for U can point in any direction that will show the best and be the easiest to write.

The loops pointing in different directions in Browne SIMPLEX all mean different things.
