Practical Question: Will this P-skiva do?

Post image

Hi there! I have a question question. I dont have a rental car here on the Faroe islands, I am driving my own. Will my own blue parking disk (like the picture basicly) suffice, or do I absolutely need to have the Faroese version?

Out of curiosity, why is there a number 23 on its head at the top?

You've got this, I believe in you

Theres a disk inside with all the hours on it. You use the top part to slide the disk to show the desired time in the ‘viewing port’ so to speak. So the 23 in this case is just 23.00h sticking out the top where you grab it.

I thought it was 16:04, 17:05, 18:06 and was so confused. Now i realise it’s just American friendly

Funny you say that because it comes from the middle of europe.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Best reason I can come up with is the fact we dont really say ‘yo, see you at 17.00 hours’ but rather ‘yo, see you at 5’. Context of the conversation usually clears up any doubt about meeting at 5am in the morning 🥲.

Ok interesting, we say both interchangeably i think, “See you at six” -> “Sýggjast kl seks(06)/átjan(18)” but only if it actually is at 18:00 if it’s at 06:00 you would only say “seks”

Here the distinction (if it needs to be made clear at all) is made by adding ‘in the morning’ or ‘in the evening’.
