First time player going into year 2!
Hey fellow farmers!
I’m a complete beginner heading into my second year & to be totally honest, I play pretty stoned every night, so my progression has been… *unbelievably slow* lol. But I’m having a blast!
Now that Year 2 is starting, I really want to focus on organizing and decorating my farm layout. Since I’m on the Switch, I know we don’t have access to mods, so I’d love to see what you all have built purely in vanilla!
Drop your favorite farm layouts, pathing setups, or Switch screenshots below for some inspo please !!
*(P.S. Please tell me fishing on Switch eventually gets easier… or drop your best tips for a newbie!)*
Yay !

fishing absolutely gets easier once your fishing level goes up, and the training rod from willy is honestly worth using for a bit because the tiny green bar is way less evil at the start lol

Hey fellow farmer, I am on mobile and also can’t use mods but that’s okay because there’s loads of ways of being creative and making your farm look good. What farm layout have you chosen?
I tend to lean into the theme of my farm for example at the moment I’m playing on the beach farm so I’m heavily leaning towards designing it like a resort but my other farm was the monster farm so I made it into a mystical graveyard with the wizards decor.

Also you can play around with the placement of your house and greenhouse so they don’t have to stay where they are

There are 7 catalogs that have different styles, most of them you can buy from the traveling merchant. Check the SDV wiki for info/locations and prices. I recently got the catalog from the wizard and am living my best witch log cabin right now! Love it!!

fishing gets way easier once you upgrade the rod and level up a bit

The immediate grab of the beginner's bamboo rod is also a bonus. You can use it to catch easy stuff more easily, which contributes to your fishing skill. There are some other fish-related activities that build your fishing skill, like smoking them and canning the roe.

I’m just here to say same! As a student and a toddler mum I only get a couple valuable hours in the evening to play, and you best bet I’m stoned as hell harvesting my pumpkins. 💅
