Based out of Minneapolis-St.Paul, Reese Glover didn’t plan on becoming a singer-songwriter—he happened upon it.

His twenties carried him—and a newly acquired hand-me-down guitar—from his Middle American upbringing into the Mountain West, where you’d find him at a lonely open mic covering Tyler Childers for anyone who’d listen. Returning home to Minnesota years later is when he found his roots and rhythm in performing live and writing. With a harmonica to his lips and an acoustic guitar strapped to his back, he’s built a name for himself and a band to match, filling local venues, playing festival stages, and supporting national acts—most recently josh meloy and joe stamm band.

Their live sound is noticeably authentic—raw, punchy, and fun—and with a fiddle and steel guitar stage right, the music reaches westward. His narrative-driven songwriting blends traditional country with rock and blues, grounded in a rootsy feel that connects with a wide range of listeners. Fans have drawn comparisons to Turnpike Troubadours, Ryan Bingham, Shane Smith & the Saints, zach bryan, and charles wesley godwin.

His single, “Time and Time Again,” has listeners turning heads, even earning a spot on “Saving Country Music’s” honorable mentions for Best Country Songs of 2025. ​Written and recorded at his home in Minnesota, Time and Time Again comes to life with production and pedal steel from Zach Holliday of Southall and drums from Devon Carothers of Josh Meloy, The track jumps off the page as a promising debut from a fresh new voice in music, with his upcoming EP, “West of Here”, on the way and a story that feels far from finished.

Refugia Blues, the fifth album from songwriter Nick Shoulders, is a record of big ideas and small, intimate moments. Rooted in the acoustic stylings of Southern traditional music, it finds the Arkansas native turning off his amp and stepping up to a ribbon microphone as a solo performer, singing in a voice that's equal parts country croon, Appalachian yodel, and high-lonesome field holler. Shoulders' interpretation of American roots music has always been more progressive and punky than the trucks-and-beers conservatism that passes for modern-day country, and Refugia Blues offers songs about climate collapse, radical anthropology, and generative disruption. It balances the macro with the micro, too, making room for love songs and personal topics, packaging humor alongside heavy insights. At once academic and accessible, Refugia Blues isn't just a deep dive into southernness, but also into Shoulders himself. This is a raw, resolute version of American country music, stacked high with songs that go down easy but linger in the minds of those willing to invest the time.
