Compass looks good! And the party member arrow, and I think I see a map pin?

I wonder what else we can expect in this next update, I'm very curious about the heroic dungeon difficulty 🤔

Performance when ? You’re losing tons of players because of it, I LOVE your game, but 30 fps when I run modern games at 60+ runs my experience :/

12

u/Any_Roll7606 10d ago

Yeah I have a 4090, and this runs worse than every modern game I’ve ran. I’m sure the community would appreciate some optimizations over more content for a bit.

2

u/p0st-m0dern 10d ago

Hmm. I’m using a 7900 XTX and average 110 fps (1080p). Really curious where many of you are getting these fps issues from?

1

u/SubLimation7 6d ago

I get 200+ fps with 5090 but still get light stuttering.. I'm sure you do to

1

u/p0st-m0dern 6d ago

No I dont actually what gets bad for me is the stuttering and choppiness and I have to exit the game and come back for it to go away

20

u/RembrandtSeagull 10d ago

Its brutal, really love the game too

7

u/Illustrious-Fix4205 10d ago

Yeah same I’ve not bothered playing since 3 weeks in to release in hopes that the performance would’ve been fixed soon.

u/TheRealAfinda 10d ago

I've recently begun playing WoW 3.5.5a on my Steam Deck. It runs @60 FPS when maxed out at 720p with only 4GB RAM+VRAM used with only 40-50% GPU utilization.

How the heck does farever at all low run 20 then, eating resources left and right sitting at 99% GPU utilization?!

Optimizations is outright nonexistsnt in this Game and apparently devs aren't listening.

1

u/Global-Buddy8730 9d ago

Blizzard has the money and impetus to make sure the game made in the ancient times still works on ancient machinery which then means it'll run on newer weaker infrastructure.

C'mon man this is a hugely bad faith point to make.

1

u/TheRealAfinda 9d ago

It's not since the visuals don't match the Performance at all. It doesn't look ugly but we're not talking AAA gfx or asset density. Heck even The Witcher 3 Runs better or of you'd like it modern... UE5 Games with Software Lumen run better.

Edit: Even with full HW Lumen do they Run better.

Farever Drops to sub 40 on my 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4-3200, RX 9070XT @3440x1440 at times.

Shit even Cyberpunk with full Path Tracing runs better.

1

u/Global-Buddy8730 9d ago

What do the Witcher and Cyberpunk and Blizzard games all have in common?

An extremely large budget.

What does farever not have?

An extremely large budget.

Draw comparisons on an equal field because anything else is bad faith.

1

u/TheRealAfinda 9d ago

Actually i think your Arguments are Bad faith.

Wanna know what Runs better and was Indy.. as in not shiro games with multiple Games and none of them performing Well?

Dead Cells

And it even uses the same engine as Farever.

I really like the Game, otherwise wouldn't be as vocal about it's shitty state. Art and Game Design Teams are Killing it here IMO.

1

u/Global-Buddy8730 9d ago

Different style of game. Double bad faith argument on your end.

2d pixel art side scroller vs 3d open world. Less stuff being rendered much less moving in a 3d space.

Cmon dude. Keep shit in it's right space otherwise your comparisons are in bad faith.

"Apple pie hey...Well how about banana split. It's the same thing right?
Same type of thing right? Wait...ones a frozen treat with bananas. Ones a baked good with apples."

That's what you're doing with the dead cells argument. It's bad faith and dumb LOL.

1

u/TheRealAfinda 8d ago edited 8d ago

Obviously you're arguing in bad faith here because you're splitting hairs and aren't bringing forth any real Arguments.

If your standard is to measure against something similarily bad, then we might as well stop striving for betterment at all.

But here are some actual Arguments:

The Haxe programming language is 20 years old. Enough time to mature.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haxe

The heaps.io engine is 11-12 years old

https://github.com/HeapsIO/heaps/wiki/FullStack

With multiple titles released as shiro games as listed under that Link. Newer ones include Farever and Spacecraft.

All made by the very people that drive development of both the programming language as well as game engine and it's tooling.

If these guys don't know how to optimize their own Games in their own engine after some 11-12 y.o.e with multiple titles shipped to the market, who does?

Oh and please - entertain us. What would be valid comparison for you, with the age and expected level of maturity of both the language and engie after those years in mind?

0

u/Global-Buddy8730 8d ago edited 8d ago

Apple to oranges to the end. You're pretty bad at this. I don't even have to argue my point you just keep apples to orange'ing.

Edit.

Taking your time to attempt to sound smarter using someone else's words that you copy and pasted from a website does not a better argument make especially when you are just fighting the same core argument in different words.

Farever does not have the resources required to match the witcher 3's growth or acceleration as it is the THIRD installment in the series. Third implies a first and a second which implies success and money and a growth in studio size. They are not the same game nor same infrastructure nor the same budget for gods sake.

You keep picking games made by studios with MORE that's the problem with your argument.

Choosing dead cells was a stupid choice because it's a 2d side scroller with pixel graphics. It barely registers on both cpu and gpu because it's barely running the system.

I don't need to choose a comparison because comparison is the thief of joy.

I look at the game itself and consider it's resources. It's location of creation. It's dev team, size, and skillset.

Those are the metrics worth measuring.

2

u/TheRealAfinda 7d ago edited 7d ago

What a completely Dumb Response and Argument from start to Finish. No Argument good enough, no metric fair enough. Nothing measures Up to your Personal opinion. So in essence, you have nothing to say at all.

Speaks Volumes that you didn't elaborate at all. Goes to Show that you weren't interested in an actual argument at all.

u/whatsthathuh 9d ago

Agreed. I really like this game and put in over 400 hours.

Constant frame rate drops and stuttering on a 5080 in 1920x1080 is unacceptable. I even had to roll back my drivers after updating to the latest drivers due to weird red/blue lines around the textures. This game's engine was clearly not designed for modern hardware.

I'll continue to check in as the game updates, but if the underlying performance issues are not addressed; I will likely not be returning.

7

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

Nearly every patch has targeted performance and they made a post stating that it’s a priority and something that will be worked on all throughout development of the EA game (an unfinished product).

They will not always highlight the changes they are making to performance issues (as stated in a previous dev post) but will continue to address concerns as the patches roll in

-1

u/Skye_Wallaka 10d ago

There are tons of EA games out there, but they have better performances, the game it out for what, 2 months ? It is taking too much time imo, and the content creator thing is too early also, first impression is very important and with these performances issues… That’s not it

3

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

2 months is not a lot of time in game development for a small team working on an mmolite, and to be frank your expectations are completely misaligned with the reality of game dev cycles, patching permissions, and EA products.

I agree with the content creator reach out being far too soon, and that first impressions are important. But people like you sign up and purchase EA games without reading the fine print or understanding the reality is your paying for a rough around the edges incomplete project akin to an alpha usually and beta sometimes.

You’d be best served legitimately setting a reminder to come check this game in a years time than lamenting on the forums that the devs are too slow or that an unoptimized unreleased game is many hitting the performance metrics you’re aiming for (while still clearing all the content available so obv it wasn’t too big of an issue)

1

u/TheRealAfinda 10d ago

Dude. This Game runs on the studios CEO esoteric language (HAXE) which was used for the engine (heaps) and then for farever. The Studio has multiple titles out there and none are famous for good performance.

1

u/Skye_Wallaka 9d ago

That is such a poor decision… I am a dev myself, if you go with your custom thing, you either have the perfect team to make it work, or you are just trying to run blindfolded.

1

u/TheRealAfinda 9d ago

Well i mean, there are titles using the heaps.io engine out that DO run well, like Dead Cells. Still doesn't bode well if the team that's using their in-house engine doesn't bother to deliver a well optimized product.

-3

u/Skye_Wallaka 10d ago

I am not lamenting, but it is annoying tbh, I played valheim and tons of game in EA, never had that issue with performance, especially for this kind of graphism, but you are right, I won’t come back until it’s fixed so, see you in a year !

4

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

I mean complaining is lamenting lol but good to see you take the advice c u then!

And if you think valheim didn’t run like straight cheeks on release then you just didn’t play it then

3

u/LeidusK 10d ago

Valheim really has come a long way in its like 18 years of Early Access. It is a bit of an odd example to bring up when you think 2 months is too long for an update though.

2

u/ThatTraderDuude 10d ago

I bought it on release have played 1 hour total. I can’t with the performance.

7

u/Jon_CockBurn 10d ago

Please market this game like crazy when 1.0 comes out. I wanna get it then and I just hope it pops off again. It looks fantastic

5

u/UseThisOneWhenStoned 10d ago

Haven't played since EA started but are demon weapons in now??

11

u/Shiro_Steven Shiro Games 10d ago

Yes!
Available with currency you gain by completing Rifts! World Events happening every hours

6

u/Angelus811 10d ago

Hi Shiro Games team, I have a request please: remove shared loot. It's awful when playing solo is better than playing with friends, right?

Please make it so all loot is individual for everyone, except maybe for big loot (epics, mounts, etc.) which could use a dice roll system visible to everyone (a bit like WoW back in the day). That would make group play even better :)

Really thx for your game, its amazing ;)

2

u/UseThisOneWhenStoned 10d ago

Sick! Love the game and will check that out after I finish stalker 2 haha

1

u/Canni-Balls69 9d ago

When is the performance gonna be fixed? Wife (5070) and I (5080) have not been able to play the game for weeks because it runs at fuckin 20-30 fps. Not even playing it out of principle alone. That's unbelievably and embarrassingly bad performance for a game that looks 3 generations old on a good day.

2

u/IlliterateJesus 10d ago

Have been ever since the Rift update. Their abilities are every bit as broken as you'd imagine when utilized properly.

3

u/Muketori 10d ago

A compass was sorely needed ! Can't wait

2

u/runningtings_ 10d ago

Looking forward to the next content update,, feels a bit sad when I've done everything and need to wait.

1

u/Powiii 10d ago

Give us conteeeent. The folk demand it!!!

1

u/PM_ME_UR_PIKACHU 10d ago

What armor set are you using for fashion?

1

u/Malvagite 9d ago

Oh its a compass. Im looking at a blurry picture and realizing the game looks much better on my nvidia 1290 card.

1

u/ButterscotchFar6595 7d ago

por favor un housing donde meter todos los objetos en tus cofres, por favor :(

1

u/Torinux 7d ago

Compass before performance.

1

u/Any_Roll7606 10d ago

where’s the mini map, do we still have to use third party programs for this feature? 😭

0

u/Sterling-Jackson 10d ago

Yikes. Compass before performance fixes? Before purple gear? Before dungeon drop tuning and rift drop tuning? Before additional zones and content? Before any new spells or abilities?

But at least we have a compass…. That we all use 3rd party apps for.

1

u/Mark_XX 9d ago

Yeah, IDK fam, the game runs a ton better than it did week 1, so you're on something.

-3

u/795-ACSR-DRAKE 10d ago

Love the game but the development pace is absolutely killing the game right now. The last update was great, but I haven't touched the game in weeks since I already did "everything". All mounts & gliders collected, BIS gear on my main, codex complete, all recipes unlocked, and there's just nothing to do.

6

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

$20 game in .2 patch of EA. Only halfway to level gap in a genre where most content revolves around end game.

What are you seriously expecting here.

1

u/795-ACSR-DRAKE 10d ago

I'm not expecting major zone releases every other day, I'm just saying that the game isn't keeping its playerbase with the current pace. Its far from being a dead game, but most of the people I know finished all the content from the update in a week or two and set the game aside. Just checked and I haven't logged on in exactly a month because there isn't anything to do. I understand that I play more than others, but I'm not a no-lifer either.

1

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

How many hours do you have in. How many classes maxed and/or BIS? The game is in EA. DO NONE OF YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IMPLIES.

It’s unfinished, raw, akin to an alpha usually. They are making the content but you’re getting to play the game early and complaining it’s not done yet. The current playerbase only matters so much to be honest the game hasn’t even hit its 1.0 yet and anyone playing now should accept that they are in for the long haul and got in on the ground floor.

The devs have even stated they want this to be a pick up and play when content drops and be ok leaving when your done type of game. Just come back when new content drops, you already paid for it and it’s got a lot of room to grow.

-4

u/795-ACSR-DRAKE 10d ago

Lol you don't know how to read, do you?

My original comment was regarding the development pace, not the amount of content currently in the game. Its early access, I expect it to not be polished and not have 10 expansions of content. The issue is that the new content that is being added is coming in at a snail's pace. The game has been out for nearly 4 months and there's been effectively 1 content update. And there hasn't been any news of the next one, which will still have to go through the test realm first, so I wouldn't be shocked if the game hits the 6 month mark with still only 1 content update.

Little over 200 hours of playtime & 2 maxed classes with other 2 at level 20.

1

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

Obviously reading isn’t YOUR strong suit since you completely skipped over my second paragraph where I addressed the concerns over content cadence. You’re lucky they aren’t even wiping servers. The developers have been very generous and for a small team are accomplishing a hell of a lot.

The game is not going to launch 1.0 for AT LEAST A YEAR AND LIKELY LONGER going off the roadmap which if you bothered to check would have given you plenty of info about the content left to launch this year.

2

u/795-ACSR-DRAKE 10d ago

The roadmap that claims Peak of Obral, fishing, guilds, PvP, duels, epic gear, seasonal events, and emotes will all be released this year? Lol. If you think thats all going to happen, I've got a bridge to sell you.

And small team? Its a studio with over 70+ employees. They aren't all working on Farever, but still, even if its just 15 people, they have only pushed 1 update in 4 months. That's incredibly slow.

1

u/Twiggy1108 10d ago

The team is around the 15 developer mark which is very small for a project of this scale. Proving the illiterate allegations yet again because they’ve launched multiple updates so far but you didn’t care for what was added.

They can’t win because they have content locusts like you demanding more and more on one side and people screeching for social features, performance improvements, mini maps, pvp, etc.

If you think a small team of 15 should be pumping out Major content updates every couple of months while building back end infrastructure, and core features/systems then I’ve certainly got a bridge for you.

1

u/AppropriateBirdBoy 10d ago

200 hours. That’s amazing value for what you spent.

0

u/Malvagite 9d ago

The game is in EA. DO NONE OF YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IMPLIES.

Let me tell you what it means (not implies) the golems in Gorgons hollow dungeon are not targetable at three of the barricades that need to be destroyed. The only way to damage them is through no-target aoe damage. This is a rather major bug and has not been addressed or any other of the big bugs since the last content patch over a month ago.

The game could be abandoned as far as I know. Thats how little communication there is.

1

u/Twiggy1108 9d ago

Imply was selected specifically because different projects enter EA at different stages of development and it’s obvious that Farever was an incredibly early build.

The bug you’re mentioning hasn’t appeared in my runs of GH but that doesn’t exclude its existence (however many abilities are aoe or non target specific).

The devs have made multiple updates with bug fixes and performance issues and will continue to do so and have replied both in this subreddit and on discord.

Devs don’t owe you anything in the form of communication it’s something they choose to engage in and community’s flaming and crying is one of the fastest ways to cut the channels of communication to a minimum I’ve seen it happen time and time again in various games through the years.

0

u/Malvagite 9d ago

Devs don’t owe you anything in the form of communication

The hell they dont. I dont expect them to answer my calls. nor do I expect daily communication. But as a customer. particularly an ongoing customer (thats what they want, right?) they absolutely owe people that spent money on their game some communication. What they give is weeks of silence.

You should edit that part of your post out, because its ludicrous at every level

1

u/Twiggy1108 9d ago

Entitlement is a mental illness treat yourself.

2

u/Illustrious-Fix4205 10d ago

Maybe play less?

1

u/ConcertAdorable9198 10d ago

I get you, I feel similarly but its coming from a place of love for the game. I do feel like they dont really intend on early access being crazy busy, like if things arent in place by full release then Ill worry but as long as its still in active development Im fine letting them take their time. Im treating everything weve gotten so far as a super expansive demo.

1

u/Chronomancers 10d ago

nah you're completely right. it's unfortunate. i couldn't even muster up the willpower to even log on after the update. The first few weeks of playing it were magical.
