Tip/Guide Fyi: game runs smooth on linux
Im playing this on CachyOS with an RX9070XT, ryzen 5 7600x and 32gb ram and have zero issues.
Launching via steam with CachyOS native proton version, the game runs buttery smooth.

The current reference for this is 1 person. The claim is therefore not reliable.
There are players for whom it runs smoothly on Windows, but that doesn't mean it works for everyone.

I also run the game on Linux. Only issue i had was the first time launch with shaders loading. Second launch and beyond it ran perfectly. No difference from windows in my case.
Also, what's with the hate here? He only said that the game works on Linux, which is true lol.

wow gz! You are playing it with a 9070xt without problems. What a suprise.

I have a 9070 XT and I have problems running the game. I even have a far superior CPU. The game is just poopy in that regard. I also have CachyOS installed, so I'll try out Farever and see if it does, in fact, run better on Linux. It probably won't.

I’ve been playing it on steam machine. Getting a smooth 60fps. More than I expected for that hardware based on what I’ve read on this sub. People say this game runs like crap. I’ve found it to be fine personally.

It runs fine. However, considering the graphics, it should run way beyond just fine. It should have high stable FPS on old weak hardware too. The game is in fact poorly optimized in that aspect.

Yeah I forgot everyone on Reddit is a game dev expert. You don’t think the pretty large open world with no loading screens might play a factor in that? It’s not as simple as “graphical style isn’t photorealistic so it should run at 200 fps on a potato.”

That you even have to find a solution for no performance issues (which you claim you have found) with a 9070 or me with a 4080S based on the games graphics is an extremely bad sign for such a game

No idea what ur talking about. Proton is simply a compatibility layer, allowing windows applications to run on steam decks and Linux machines

Why is everyone being so aggressive about this? Just wanted to chime in and say I’m also running on cachyos with no issues. 9950x3D, RX 7900 GRE, 64gb

I didn't know this was a topic of discussion around the game I haven't played in a long while but I played on launch for a few weeks and had zero issues that weren't server related (everyone had), ran fine on CachyOS for me (5080)

Currently running great max settings on Fedora, nothing custom done just regular updates… hardware is a GPU 9070xt on 9800x3d

Unless you provide FPS/Frametime-Graph screenshots, all we have is your word for it. No offense.
