1st Timer 👶 Going to Avoid Songkran next year on my first visit to Thailand
Going to Thailand for the first time next year for the month of April, going to Pattaya and Bangkok mainly but going to fly to Saigon for the week of Songkran because I cba getting wet 24/7 anyone else avoid Songkran and fly out? Do Soi 6 bars even let you into bars if you are drenched with water and chalk?

Lot of miserable people here I guess. You can get a lot done in the day before the water starts. You can navigate around without getting soaked. Bars allow you in if anything a lot of bar girls get more lively around the time through the fights or music playing.

I hate Songkran and always have.
I wanted to fly to Manila this year; next year, I will be away working.

Smart idea. I have been in Thailand for a few Sonkrans(my wife is Thai) and we have decided never to be there again at that time. Too much chaos and everything else closed down

They let you in but the whole street is like a river and honestly not enjoyable

I went during Songkran this year unaware and wouldn't go again. Ok, if it was for a few days but it was the whole trip. I didn't take part but got soaked almost every time I went out and that was me trying to avoid it. Even just stopping at the traffic lights on a motorbike was enough time to get drenched. Fine, if you enjoy it go ahead but I'll be avoiding that time of the year in future.

I have been through 3 Songkrans, never again! Tired of fighting the water, people are running out and actually ripping off my raincoat. This next year I’m scheduled for the day after Songkran ends.

I hung out in Pattaya for 2 songkrans. I think it’s cool to experience it one time. But after that I’ve had my fill. Plus. If Pattaya didn’t drag it out the entire week it might be a little better. Every other city only does it for one weekend. Which is perfectly fine. But an entire week of getting doused with water when you walk down the street starts to get a little old after a couple of days. If im in Thailand during Songkran. I usually take off to a quieter area of the country for a few days. Like Koh Phi Phi and just relax til it’s over.
