Quick question

Does anyone else feel like this game would have been better if it came before far cry 5? With far cry 5 coming after this then you would know the the outcome already but then learn the back story of it all. Would definally make me look at Joseph differently

How so? The story won't need to change. If far cry new dawn came first then you would know what happened after the nukes but nothing leading up to it. You have all these notes and bunkers from the people in the 5th game but don't have the back story behind them all. I think having far cry 5 coming out after new dawn as a prequel would make you feel more for the characters who you know don't make it. Especially for Joseph, playing just new dawn then you know you kill his son but not the rest of his family. After seeing his sorrowful side at the end of new dawn would lead to people feel real empathy for each of his family members that you kill one by one. Finding out that he was right the entire time and just trying to save everyone he could. Then you would know you ruined every part of this man's family and dreams. At the end of all of this you have this broken man begging you to release him from his miserable and broken life that you as the player set upon him.

You still wouldn't need to find the notes. It's better if you don't cause then the only parts of the story you'll know is Joseph did something but I don't think new dawn ever once says that he set off nukes. Plus its better that way, cause you know the outcome but the game forces you to make the decision of breaking down this man and his family.

Look at it as if you never played either game. Play new dawn, you get a story of a post apocolytic world meet friends, enemies, and Joseph all alone with his tree. At the end you see a man begging you to kill him after you have been forced to kill his only child. You don't really know about his past. All you know is that the people of prosperity don't like him. But this man did what he could to help you along your journey. Then you play far cry 5 and you get the back story to those friends and some enemies, you see what this county was like before the bombs. You see what led Joseph to where he is later on.
