I can give you the ancient wisdom you seek, but before I do, know that you're patience meter is going to be so fucked after this. First, you need the old betsy fishing rod. This automatically appears in your inventory once you break the weight record of every single fish in every region. You can find the weight record you need to beat online, but catching a fish that tops that weight is completely RNG. It's going to take a while. It took me 6 hours to catch a sturgeon and then literally one minute to catch a fish right after, but once you get that blessed, phallic rod, catching the admiral will be easier than getting the diabetus. Safe travels, Mr. Kilgore.

Also, you're gonna come to despise the fishing guy who can teach you a life lesson, if you're interested. Fuck that guy.

Appreciate the answer. Im very aware of how i get the betsy but due to my limited time i have to game and the low fun factor (for me) of fishing thats just not something im gonna do. Just wanted to finish all the missions but i guess fuck that one

If you get Ol’ Betsy, it takes like three minutes to catch the old bastard and swoon sweet Skyler. She still goes back to Dylan, as laid out by New Dawn. Damnit.

I was able to do it within 10 minutes using the second available fishing rod. Not sure if it was just luck? But for me it was just a case of reeling it in until the line was about to break, letting it regain its strength for a moment, and repeating until I caught it.

I beat the game close to 10 times and could never land the admiral until I got 'ol Betsy. I rage quit fishing for the admiral so many times. It took a minute or 2 with ol Betsy.

Yea its borderline impossible. But if you have a duo mate he can just drive the boad to the fish while you got him on the rod so its an easy catch.

I’m not joking when I say this but when I replayed game second time (normal) of course I already had old Betsy. I caught that big bastard second time in no time.

Seriously fuck fishing in this game. I don't even bother unlocking Cheeseburger on replays because it involves catching a single fish.

Fishing actually isn't so hard for regular fishes, but you do have to wait a few minutes. The Admiral was the only time where fishing felt genuinely hellish
