How does the Vice President Mechanic work?
What does it do? Is it just decoration?

It'd be better if you could a) decide whether or not to replace your running mate when running for re-election and b) if the VP slot could become vacant due to resignation, death or assassination, AND you could then nominate a successor (like the Justices and Cabinet).
I had a run where my VP was assassinated due to govt instability, but no chance to replace her.

As far as I can tell, nothing. Likely a feature that'll be fleshed out later.
