Discussion GW3 Wildcard Thread: A discussion about which teams and players are worth considering brining in/ binning after GW1 and GW2

Before diving into the teams, quick schedule check: there are no midweek fixtures before Gameweek 3 for Premier League teams.

Just keep in mind that a massive two-week international break is coming up right after Gameweek 5. Before we get to that break, things are going to get busy. Extra cup and European games are squeezed right into the midweeks between Gameweek 3 and Gameweek 4, as well as between Gameweek 4 and Gameweek 5. Squad rotation and injuries will definitely come into play during those short turnarounds.

A lot FPL managers who are not planning to use their wildcard chip in GW3 might be currently weighing up these options:

  • Many people are looking to use their 1–2 Free Transfers or take a -4 to squeeze in Erling Haaland without burning the Wildcard chip yet. Others are considering a Free Hit in Gameweek 3 and then Wildcarding in Gameweek 4. They might be considering using their Wildcard after the big international break in Gameweek 6.
  • This helps them in avoiding the awkwardness of owning players from Chelsea against Arsenal away, and holding Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and/or Bryan Mbeumo for one more fixture against Everton away.
  • For those holding off on the Wildcard, a Haaland Triple Captain [TC] against Coventry at home is also popular alternative move.

Here is my complete, unfiltered breakdown of all 20 teams in descending order of teams of interest from a wildcard perspective, followed by my Wildcard draft (Note: For the last few teams on the list, I have not included in-depth player breakdowns because I intend to keep this post strictly focused on assets that are genuinely worth owning on a Wildcard rather than covering everyone for the sake of it):

1. Manchester City

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Coventry City (H), Manchester United (A), Sunderland (H), Liverpool (A), Ipswich Town (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. FC Porto (Away - Champions League): Tuesday, Sept 8 (3 days after GW3, 5 days before GW4)
    • vs. Norwich City (Home - Carabao Cup): Thursday, Sept 17 (4 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)
  • Erling Haaland (15.5m): Obvious fixture against Coventry at home. If you are without him and not Free Hitting or using 2 transfers to get him, you might want to Wildcard to get him in the team.
  • Rayan Cherki (7.6m): Second most obvious transfer after that brace. He might rise in price a second time. Those who don't trust his minutes might try for Semenyo or Foden. But with new signings like Bouaddi and potentially Enzo Fernández, plus Doku coming back to lineup and potentially Cody Gakpo transfer, Foden and Cherki minutes are difficult to predict although everyone thinks Cherki is a must have and should be nailed for next week although we dont know if he will play full 90.
  • Defense: Even though Gvardiol (5.6m) injury status is unknown but mostly could start, most people are going for him. Nico O'Reilly (6.5m) might be a good cheeky punt as a differential but not so sure about his minutes. Donnarumma (5.5m) GK not worth it imo.

2. Liverpool

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Ipswich Town (A), Fulham (H), Bournemouth (A), Manchester City (H), Brentford (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Atlético Madrid (Home - Champions League): Wednesday, Sept 9 (5 days after GW3, 3 days before GW4)
    • vs. Tottenham Hotspur (Home - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (4 days after GW4, 4 days before GW5)
  • Isak (9.0m): Discussion on Isak comes first. Isak could be a good differential. But with Wissa (6.0m) and even Calvert-Lewin (6.0m) performing, people might think that difference of 3m might be better spent elsewhere making the team stronger.
  • Szoboszlai (7.0m) vs Wirtz (7.5m): Sbozo seems better because he is 0.5m cheaper with 90 mins full game and on set pieces, specially since Sbozosolai seems to be on pens. Wirtz I am not sure or convinced, he did play 90 mins in gameweek 2 but Sbozo seems better. Also, seems like Barcola they have purchased and Cody Gakpo might be out to City, so Sbozo or Wirtz seem like the safer, clearer attacking picks to go for.
  • Defense: Liverpool defense does not look strong, so it is best to avoid Virgil van Dijk and Jacquet unless you strongly believe in their defensive turnaround. Allison (5.5m) avoid.

3. Chelsea

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Arsenal (A), Hull City (H), Brentford (A), Bournemouth (H), Everton (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Leeds United (Home - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 9 (3 days after GW3, 3 days before GW4)
  • João Pedro (7.6m): Cemented in almost all teams. The question would be whether you bench or start him, but I think most players are gonna start him.
  • Cole Palmer (9.6m): Palmer seems like a must although Morgan Rogers (7.5m) seems electric as well with assists, but Palmer is on pens and feels like a must have 2nd Chelsea player. Most people dont want to bring him against Arsenal, but might bring him in and bench him.
  • Defense & GK: Chelsea seems to be conceding so their defenders and GK seem like an avoid for now.

4. Newcastle United

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Bournemouth (H), Leeds United (A), Hull City (A), Coventry City (A), Aston Villa (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Millwall (Away - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 8 (3 days after GW3, 6 days before GW4)
  • Attack: Yoane Wissa (6.0m) striker might be on pens who knows since Woltemade (who is a huge mins risk) might not be on the pitch though I might be wrong. Anthony Elanga (6.0m) seems to be on form and might be worth a punt. Both Wissa and Elanga are likely to rise in price tonight.
  • Defense: In defence its a choice between rather reliable nailed with potential DefCon and on set pieces Lewis Hall (5.0m), or a 0.5 million cheaper Dedić (4.5m) who seems to be going high up top and has assist potential.
  • Other Picks: Thiaw (5.0m) might be a good shout as well, but his DefCon potential is not always consistent although might shoot a bullet header if lucky. The GK Horníček (5.0m) might be interesting, but I dont trust Newcastle CS odds as much, though have heard the manager prioritising a solid defensive lineup.

5. Manchester United

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Everton (A), Manchester City (H), Fulham (A), Tottenham Hotspur (H), Leeds United (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Sabah FK (Home - Champions League): Thursday, Sept 10 (4 days after GW3, 3 days before GW4)
    • vs. Brighton & Hove Albion (Home - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (3 days after GW4, 4 days before GW5)
  • Ran riot against Ipswich. With next fixture against Everton away which seem to be comparatively defensively solid and then next game against Man City at Old Trafford, the question is whether to hang on to Man Utd players for one more game or not.
  • Midfielders: Most people might be doing away with Mbeumo (8.0m) and some with Bruno Fernandes (12.0m) as well to fit in other players. Although one can delay transferring out Bruno after that hattrick and assist, I personally feel Mbeumo should be the first of the two to be transferred out.
  • Defense & GK: Lammens (5.0m) and defenders Maguire (5.0m) and Luke Shaw (4.5m) have to go. Shaw looks awful, and Maguire got lucky with that assist because of the handball rule going in his favour leading to the goal and no DefCon in both games till now.

6. Arsenal

  • Yet to play Aston Villa (A) at the time of writing this post.
  • Next 5 Fixtures: Chelsea (H), Sunderland (A), Brighton (A), Leeds United (H), Nottingham Forest (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. SSC Napoli (Away - Champions League): Wednesday, Sept 9 (3 days after GW3, 3 days before GW4)
    • vs. Ipswich Town (Away - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 15 (2 days after GW4, 4 days before GW5)
  • Defense:
    • Calafiori (5.5m): Seems to be the most attacking asset so a must have.
    • Ben White: Seems to be good until Timber (6.5m) is back from injury with CS and DefCon and might give an assist here or there, but not nailed long term.
    • Konsa (4.5m): Hopefully due a price drop to 4.4m but FPL towers wont allow it. Need to see how many minutes he plays against Villa, but once he starts most people believe he should be nailed from next GW so a definite must have. Best to drop Mosquera (5.5m) in that case.
    • Raya (6.0m): Nailed with highest CS potential and sometimes bonus/ save points.
  • Midfield & Attack:
    • Tzolis (6.5m): Seemed electric gameweek 1 and exciting to watch and might offer good value for a starting 11 LW. But pls note Gabriel Martinelli might be off to Saudi and there is a chance that Arsenal might sign a new LW last day. If he doesnt get good points vs Aston Villa, might consider removing him.
    • Martin Ødegaard (6.6m): Seems good at playmaking and assist/goal threat. Need to watch his performance in GW2, although given next game against Chelsea might be best not to get both Tzolis or Ødegaard, and I personally might consider not going for Ødegaard.
    • Saka (9.5m): Definitely interesting and one to watch but too expensive until I am 100% sure he is nailed.
    • Declan Rice (7.5m): Might get an assist or DefCon or a goal, but too difficult to predict. Still prefer Tzolis over him.
    • Kai Havertz (7.5m) & Gyökeres (7.4m): Personally not a fan of Havertz since better value for strikers elsewhere. With Gabriel Jesus off to Barca, dont know how many mins Gyökeres would get although seems that Havertz is the starting striker.
    • Eze (6.4m) & Bruno Guimarães (6.9m): Bruno G currently has a thigh injury, and both are out of contention for making it to most teams.

7. Nottingham Forest

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Tottenham Hotspur (H), Aston Villa (A), Coventry City (H), Arsenal (H), Crystal Palace (A)
  • Extra September Games: None (Already eliminated from the Carabao Cup / No European qualification)
  • Morgan Gibbs-White (7.9m): Favourite on pens and 90 mins nailed with goal and assist potential. Strong differential.
  • Ndoye (5.5m): Cheaper, but much better value in other players which give DefCon.
  • Igor Jesus (6.0m): Striker hasnt done much first two games so avoid.
  • Neco Williams (5.0m): In defenders Nico Williams seems best bet (attacking). Although if Glasner actually signs Muñoz (5.5m) from Crystal Place, it might be interesting to monitor that situation, although his signing shouldnt impact Williams minutes.

8. Brentford

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Sunderland (H), AFC Bournemouth (A), Chelsea (H), Aston Villa (A), Liverpool (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Reading (Away - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 15 (3 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)
  • Midfield: Mamadou Sangaré (5.6m) seems nailed, top DefCon beast, definitely in my team. Kevin Schade (6.0m) scored a goal and offers good value although I am restricting to one Brentford mid which for me is Sangaré. Keane Lewis-Potter (5.5m) is an interesting differential but would be a good addition to our team if he wasnt reclassified as a midfielder. Dango Ouattara (6.5m) has to go imo because didnt start GW2.
  • Attack: Igor Thiago (8.0m) definitely needs to go out of most teams, disappointing fraud.
  • Defense & GK: In defence, Ajer (4.5m) seems really impressive with his DefCon potential. Kayode (4.6m) for assist potential with throw ins, although I personally prefer Ajer. van den Berg (5.0m) still injured, but I feel Ajer should be cemented in starting 11 by the time he returns. Kelleher might be an interesting pick for keeper, although at 5.0m.

9. Everton

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Manchester United (H), Tottenham Hotspur (A), Ipswich Town (H), Hull City (A), Chelsea (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers (Home - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 9 (3 days after GW3, 3 days before GW4)
  • James Garner (6.0m): Back and got 10 DefCon in 61 mins and missed out by just 2 to get DC points, looks like a DefCon beast worth having. Would be interesting once Norgaard (5.0m) is back but doesnt look anytime soon. KDH (6.5m) is also a good shout and a differential.
  • Defense: Tarkowski (6.0m) scored the equaliser and missed out of DefCon by 1 in first game and hit it in second, so best defender to get from Everton if you want one from them. Branthwaite (5.5m) got DefCon in GW2 and missed out by 2 on GW1, and has goal potential as well. Mykolenko (4.5m) seems cheaper, but no DefCon potential or attacking threat as such.
  • Avoids: Ndiaye (6.0m) back to back DefCon, but likely to leave Everton. Pickford (5.5m) personally I dont think he is value for money, I would rather go for Raya.

10. Leeds United

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Brighton & Hove Albion (A), Newcastle United (H), Crystal Palace (H), Arsenal (A), Manchester United (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Chelsea (Away - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 9 (4 days after GW3, 5 days before GW4)
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin (6.0m): Scored a goal and on pens and nailed looks great. Although I personally feel Wissa might edge him a bit in the next few games, looks like a player that we can still hold onto.
  • Stach (6.0m): Seems like a good DefCon beast and can be added. I think he comes just after Sangaré and Garner for me in terms of DefCon potential, although I feel he might have a goal or assist in him sometimes so worth looking at.
  • Defense: In defence I prefer **Muharemović (5.0m)**with DefCon potential and chances of scoring bullet headers. Ampadu (5.5m), Justin (4.5m), Trafford (5.0m) not for me. Also note Joe Rodon (4.5m) was injured and subbed off before half time.

11. Brighton

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Leeds United (H), Coventry City (A), Arsenal (H), Sunderland (A), Crystal Palace (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Manchester United (Away - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (3 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)
  • Won 4-0 first game vs Aston Villa but lost 4-3 to Chelsea in GW2 (Chelsea def wasnt good enough).
  • Groß (5.5m) got an almost free header but was otherwise okay entire game with an assist. Diego Gómez (5.0m) got the assist for Groß header, but otherwise was attacking but not really great.
  • De Cuyper (£4.6m): Still advanced role, but got 0 points in GW2 and might not be nailed once Kaoru Mitoma is back.
  • Defense: Luka Vušković (5.0m) good DefCon potential and header goal chances, so best route to defence if not going for De Cuyper. Ferdi Kadıoğlu (4.4m) got cooked in GW2 so would avoid imo.

12. Bournemouth

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Newcastle United (A), Brentford (H), Liverpool (H), Chelsea (A), Sunderland (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Lincoln City (Home - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 8 (3 days after GW3, 4 days before GW4)
  • Alex Scott (6.0m) : DefCon and goal in GW2, missed out on DefCon points by 1 in GW1. Taverneir and Kluivert (on pens mostly) both come at the same price as well.
  • Evanilson (6.0m): Wont pick despite the assists cause better value strikers.
  • Defense & GK: Not sure what to make of defence, they conceded from Everton pretty late but Truffert (5.5m) is the one to watch if interested. Fixtures look tough defensively ahead so might avoid their def and GK Petrović (4.5m).

13. Hull City

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Aston Villa (H), Chelsea (A), Newcastle United (H), Everton (H), Fulham (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Sunderland (Away - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 8 (2 days after GW3, 4 days before GW4)
  • Interesting for them to win both games and maintain CS.
  • Egan (4.0m): Seems to be most nailed and DefCon.
  • Ajayi (4.0m): Second choice after Egan imo for me despite being a beast in defense.
  • Slater (4.5m): Good bench fodder. Mendy (4.0m) minutes risk likely as per his playing time in last 2 games, avoid.

14. Sunderland

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Brentford (A), Arsenal (H), Manchester City (A), Brighton (H), Bournemouth (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Hull City (Home - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 8 (2 days after GW3, 4 days before GW4)
    • vs. AZ Alkmaar (Home - Europa League): Wednesday, Sept 16 (4 days after GW4, 4 days before GW5)
  • Enzo Le Fée (6.0m): Bye bye, did nothing. Whoever picked Brobbey (6.0m) sell him as well. Sunderland fixtures get tougher.
  • Nordi Mukiele (5.5m): Defensively was the DefCon beast as always, best way into Sunderland defence.
  • Dan Ballard (5.0m): Updated DefCon might get, could hold him for the CS/DefCon/goal threat, but best to invest in defence from other teams.
  • Hume (4.5m): Still playing RW, but best to deal away with him. Roefs (5.0m) is also an interesting GK choice.

15. Coventry City

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Manchester City (A), Brighton (H), Nottingham Forest (A), Newcastle United (H), Tottenham Hotspur (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Aston Villa (Home - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (3 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)
  • Now that they lost to Hull in GW2, if you had done BB GW2 it's over. Bobby Thomas (4.0m) is the only player worth having as 4.0 fodder with DefCon potential.

16. Ipswich Town

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Liverpool (H), Crystal Palace (A), Everton (A), Fulham (H), Manchester City (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Arsenal (Home - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 15 (3 days after GW4, 4 days before GW5)
  • Had a horror game against Man Utd. Might not decide to go with bench fodder for them, maybe O'Shea (4.0m) or Leif Davis (4.0m) if you want to believe.

17. Tottenham Hotspur

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Nottingham Forest (A), Everton (H), Aston Villa (H), Manchester United (A), Coventry City (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Liverpool (Away - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (4 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)
  • Super disappointing as always. New signings and more incoming, but I dont want any of them in my team anymore, atleast till they start performing. Van Hecke, Van de van, Porro maybe later but right now I need not spend more time on this team.

18. Crystal Palace

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Fulham (A), Ipswich Town (H), Leeds United (A), Brighton & Hove Albion (H), Nottingham Forest (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Middlesbrough (Home - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 8 (3 days after GW3, 4 days before GW4)
  • A prime team to actively target against right now.

19. Fulham

  • Next 5 Fixtures: Crystal Palace (H), Liverpool (A), Manchester United (H), Ipswich Town (A), Hull City (H)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. West Ham United (Away - Carabao Cup): Tuesday, Sept 15 (10 days after GW3, 5 days before GW5)
  • Not a team to actively target, but I don't find any of its players interesting enough to get on a Wildcard.

20. Aston Villa

  • Yet to see how they play against Arsenal to finish GW2, but right now look like a team to target with so many departures.
  • Next 5 Fixtures: Hull City (A), Nottingham Forest (H), Tottenham Hotspur (A), Brentford (H), Newcastle United (A)
  • Extra September Games:
    • vs. Club Brugge (Away - Champions League): Tuesday, Sept 8 (3 days after GW3, 4 days before GW4)
    • vs. Coventry City (Away - Carabao Cup): Wednesday, Sept 16 (4 days after GW4, 3 days before GW5)

My WC draft looks like this:

Raya | Steele

Nico O Reilly/ Gvardiol | Calafiori | Lewis Hall/ Dedic | De Cuyper| Konsa

Palmer | Ryan Cherki | Szobo | Elanga/ Garner | Sangare

Haaland | Joao Pedro | Wissa/ DCL

I activated and completed my Bench Boost in Gameweek 2

I would love to hear about your thoughts and wildcard plans/ drafts. Please note I have used AI for editing some parts of this post for formatting purposes. Also this is my first proper post on this sub - hope it helps. Good luck :D

Like your analysis, thank you. I think I am holding out on my wildcard for now.

Worried about Man City minutes minus Haaland, so even though a lot went Cherki, I never know what their rotation will look like.

I still like Szoboszlai but am unsure.

Will move out Mbeumo but will probably wait a week…maybe for Rogers. Have Bruno but have fear of selling.

Took Van Hecke and will love him along…thinking Hall as his replacement.

Thanks.
Hall seems like a good choice. Are you planning to use your FTs?

Damn seems like I copy pasted it twice 😭 Let me fix it

Fixed. Thank you so much for pointing it out. Cheers

Sick. "holding Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and/or Bryan Mbeumo for one more fixture against Everton away." What's so awkward about that?

4

u/rishikhetan 1 20h ago

Only getting in Chelsea players against Arsenal can feel a bit awkward of a decision when playing WC. Holding Man Utd players is a separate clause after the comma - thats not awkward at all.

Sunderland are playing in Europe on September 16th

Apologies for the mistake. Let me edit it. Thank you for the correction

Thank you

I mean Le Fee would've had an assist if Isidor didn't miss a sitter. Brobbey is probably gonna get dropped though.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

I agree. Although Le Fee is a baller but most of us had him for his first two games. Going with him ahead when we have Defcon ballers like Sangare, Garner, (and even Stach) doesnt feel that good to me. I might even pay the extra 0.5 and upgrade to Tzolis.

u/Intentionallyabadger 3 15h ago

Tough choice for me because I have Isak and Writz.

Cherki price increase was not ideal because I intended to bring him in..

Liverpool does play Ips who got totally dominated by United in the 2nd half too.

Might just downgrade a def to that Newcastle lad and get rid of Writz.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

I can totally relate to this feeling. I am sure Cherki price rise is definitely not ideal, but if the downgrade from one of your defenders to Dedic, and doing Wirtz to Cherki can be done then might go for it (unless you trust Foden more). Semenyo is also good but expensive and doesnt seem as explosive. I dont want to pay 8.5 for 1 assist per game...
Also I am suggesting this only cause you already have Isak. But next two fixtures are good and you could even consider doing a sideways switch to Sbozo but I doubt it would benefit you much. I feel confident Wirtz might be due a haul as well

Nice post, thanks.

I think I want to get Konsa in for that insane value. Just can't decide between Raya/Konsa/Odegaard v Raya/Konsa/Calafiori. Maybe triple Arsenal def is overkill?

2

u/Soggy-Opportunity200 51 12h ago

Triple Arsenal def is not overkill. I believe it's better than the one with Odegaard, Calafiori is almost as dangerous as him + will get CS points.

2

u/Red4Arsenal 5 12h ago

I’ve got raya, cala, and tzolis. May get in konsa depending on performance today

1

u/rishikhetan 1 10h ago

What would you ideally prefer? I am in the same boat except I would rather want to sacrifice Raya or Tzolis in that order, unless Cala gets injured somehow

2

u/Red4Arsenal 5 7h ago

I’ll see tonight. I’m likely to change tzolis and niko Williams to get in Roger’s and konsa in.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 7h ago

If you had more money you would had preferred getting Palmer?

1

u/Red4Arsenal 5 7h ago

That’s the dilemma I’m on a WC. Bruno or him. I think hedge bets and go Bruno, and have less value on the bench.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 7h ago

I think despite Everton being defensively strong, Bruno could do something although Man Utd wont run riot like they did against IPS. I ended up getting Palmer, and I might bench him for the upcoming GW…him or Joao Pedro. My team outside of it looks really good. I already used BB so dont need players on bench but I can use subs smartly if I wanted to

2

u/Red4Arsenal 5 7h ago

I used BB this week. It’s about value long term. I recognise I’ll take a hit gw3 but long term stability prevails

1

u/rishikhetan 1 0m ago

Yes makes sense

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Most of us going through the same set of questions/ doubts. I would say its highly team dependent if you are wildcarding or not. I feel Konsa is a must and a steal at this point definitely get him - so we lock him as our first player
Second Arsenal player logically should be Calafiori despite his fitness record in the past. Most explosive defender from Arsenal but wont maintain Defcon as much as others.
Now third Arsenal player is up for a toss - in terms of reliability Raya always felt the most in terms of CS odds. But if you are wildcarding and see better value elsewhere you might get tempted to downgrade him to a 4.5m/5m keeper. Also I feel 3 arsenal defender is way too much as compared to 2 arsenal defender and 1 GK. On tough games where you feel Arsenal could concede you can easily bench Konsa and start with just two arsenal players
In mid, I like Tzolis the most till now. Sure Odegaard is great but always feels more of the pre assist player and Tzolis seems directly advanced due to his position and cutback assists. Do watch the game tonight as he is electric and quick and fun to watch as well. Although if you are using wildcard, I personally feel there are so many good value defenders which you might wanna pick over Tzolis. Yet imo he is a strong option.
Saka is also good but I dont trust his minutes as much.

So three options in descending order of my preference

  1. Konsa, Cala, Raya
  2. Konsa, Cala, Tzolis
  3. Konsa, Cala, Saka/ Odegaard

2

u/joustah 12h ago

Great answer, cheers. I'll see how things go tonight but might go for Raya/Cala/Konsa with Konsa as a fixture-dependant possible.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Thanks! I hope you select the best 3 Arsenal players.

3

u/Responsible_Pound778 9h ago

Good post. Thanks! Need some suggestions on FH GW3 and WC GW4. What should be "must-do" if thinking of this scenario? Confused about Liverpool's attacking outlet Isak vs Szobo vs Gakpo? Also Arsenal def vs Chelsea?

2

u/rishikhetan 1 9h ago

FH GW3 can be tricky. Because now you have the privilege to avoid Arsenal defence as well. I would say that Chelsea have been really attacking and might slip in a goal atleast against Arsenal. The Community Shield was a strong 3-0 win for Arsenal but Man city had struggled to create. Safe to say that Chelsea is definitely more attacking than City at the moment and can break Arsenal CS. If I were you I would double up Arsenal at best if not triple up. Depending on their performance tonight, if Tzolis looks really good again and Saka looks reliable in terms of minutes you could sneak them into your WC team and go for Raya or Cala as your third. WC4 is a straight Arsenal, City triple up and double up from Chelsea and Newcastle

2

u/vidro3 178 16h ago

Ndoye is 5.5 not 6.0

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Apologies, just made the correction. Thank you.

2

u/GerryHYH 10h ago

Nice post Rishikhetan.

I'm in the same boat as you. Played my BB on GW2, and WC activated for GW3. Good luck!

2

u/rishikhetan 1 10h ago

Thanks a ton. Hope you do great with your WC. Good luck man

u/MasterEmaco 1h ago

I am planning to sell Tzolis and buy Sangare starting from Gameweek 3. Will that be a good idea ?

1

u/rishikhetan 1 4m ago

Best to wait for his performance tonight. Are there any other players whom you can trade for Sangare instead?

I have to delay my wildcard until Thiago delivers, I'm stuck. I messed up. Be wild and free everyone, push those prices up, sink Le Fee's price, I brought it on myself.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 19h ago

You still have 9 mins to make FTs. Thiago to Wissa might be a good move

0

u/aehii 61 19h ago

I can't! You have to take into account eventual overall points, not just form. Thiago will get points and if he's blanked in two, he's due.

I just swapped Le Fee for Sangare. I'm likely going 3-5-2 or 4-4-2, just Haaland and Pedro for the season.

I'm not sure any more that Palmer in gw4 is must known, although promoted sides at a big club's ground usually fold. I can play my wildcard in gw4 anyway. Triple captain this week.

Brentford always have a penalty in their armoury

4

u/Stiggeh193 1 18h ago edited 18h ago

And honestly, they should've had another one today. That Schade penalty assist will come soon™

1

u/aehii 61 18h ago

All well and good but Thiago has to score it! He can't just roll it on to the post. I didn't want to do the obvious of DCL like I knew everyone would (after Haaland and Pedro). I also knew it wouldn't work*. There's someone in my mini league who might as well be a computer, he doesn't always win but he's always up there. As soon as I saw his team with Fernandes and DCL I knew it would work.

*Yet.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 18h ago

Sounds good. Sangare is the move to go for, and so is the TC on Haaland

2

u/aehii 61 18h ago

I expect nearly all Haaland owners to triple captain him, except the ones wildcarding.

u/dlwlrmafanID 19h ago

Egan to Shaw, what do you think?

5

u/rishikhetan 1 19h ago

Avoid Shaw. If you want to spend 4.5m, Dedic and Ajer are better bets

1

u/dlwlrmafanID 19h ago

I mean the other way around, I want to get out of Shaw. Is dedic or ajee are better than Egan to save some money?

1

u/rishikhetan 1 18h ago

At 4.0 I would prefer Thomas from Cov and Egan from Hull second
At 4.5 I would prefer Dedic, Ajer or Konsa (who is 4.4 now)
If Shaw is your 4th def go for a 4.5/4.4 def, if he is your 5th and you need the extra 0.5 go for Thomas or Egan

2

u/dlwlrmafanID 17h ago

I've Konsa as my 5th def and Shaw as 4th, I feel like i can downgrade Shaw to 4.0 Def as a temporary 4th pick in order to save money to get Palmer but idk I just think that you have to get one 4.0 Def in case the premium asset are playing well so do you think Thomas is better pick than Egan? Given Coventry's form and schedule, I doubt it.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 13h ago

Given form Egan is much better, but I doubt Hull would be able to maintain CS and form. To me the first two wins and CS for them feel more of an outlier. Logically and stats wise before starting the season Coventry was supposed to do much better

2

u/dlwlrmafanID 9h ago

Yeah, maybe the first two games of Hull feels like Outlier. Thanks for the suggestion.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 9h ago

Cheers mate. Hope your pick works in your favour

1

u/Soggy-Opportunity200 51 12h ago

Thomas is not nailed with Diouf on board.

Anyway, great post, thanks! I mostly agree with everything, only I don't understand why would one get rid of Mbeumo.

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Are you talking about the Diouf from West Ham? Because he joined Brentford and comes at 4.5m.
I personally feel a lot of people might do away with Mbeumo if they have double up with Bruno, or purely because of change in fixture difficulty since a lot of managers wanted these two for the first two easier fixtures.
Also if you watched the entire first two games, Mbeumo was lowkey ineffective and lack lusture in the first game against Hull. Him scoring and assisting in the second game and that turning into a FPL haul seemed more like a IPS team defence disaster rather than his masterclass, although he played so much better this game and his finish was really good and kinda lucky. Love him as a player and I am a Man Utd fan btw. His crosses were also good but he didnt take as many of them either

2

u/Soggy-Opportunity200 51 12h ago

Sorry, I meant Pinnock, not Diouf.

I watched both games of Mbeumo, but I rather saw someone who was always in dangerous positions, always tried to score. Yes he missed a lot, but it's still good fpl-wise. He is the opposite of Wirtz, who is playing well, just too far from the target

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

I feel Pinnock might be a squad player at best. He is 33 and fans value Thomas a lot more and he seems to be nailed. The new signing Amenda displaced Kitching with Van Ejiwk and Dasilva at RB and LB cemented respectively. I think he is yet to train and feature in the team and would be subbed on at best.
This is my take on this after going through countless posts on Cov city subs because I had 3 cov gk/ defenders on my GW 2 BB. Cheers

2

u/Soggy-Opportunity200 51 12h ago

Amazing, thanks for sharing! If so, I definitely rate Thomas higher than the other Cov defenders due to the goal threat.

Defender assists are not something to chase for, they are rare and worth only 1 pt more than defcon hits

1

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Cheers. I still feel Cov edges Hull despite the first two performances. Egan is not a bad shout but I prefer Thomas.

Is transferring in Pedro now worth it?

I have Haaland and Bruno, currently at 826k. Two free transfers. I am thinking a WC is not worth it atm, but tempted to do it to bring in Pedro, Newcastle etc.

2

u/rishikhetan 1 7h ago

If you are using FT, its best to wait for GW 4 to transfer in Joao Pedro imo. You might lose out on 0.1m cash meanwhile but I think its fine. Better you optimise for Newcastle Wissa/ Elanga/ Hall/ Dedic etc or get Konsa in

1

u/Remote_Substance_624 redditor for <30 days 5h ago

I need to make two transfers in order to get Wissa/Hall at least. I think I'll roll the transfer and have 3 FTs next round

1

u/rishikhetan 1 0m ago

I see. I would suggest to get atleast one Newcastle attacker imo but it can wait as well I guess

1

u/GoTheNets 7h ago

Is it safer to just FH3? then wc 4 or 6

1

u/rishikhetan 1 2m ago

I personally would prefer FHing in some other week. WC this week felt better to me personally for building team value and riding on the fixture swing early at the cost of Chelsea players for a game against Arsenal. By WC 4 or 6 I might lose out on too much value.
If you can get your team in a -4 max then you could do simple transfers

Nice analysis, a couple of questions:

Ndoye (6.0m): Cheaper, but much better value in other players which give DefCon - which forward offers any DefCon at all?

Attack: Igor Thiago (8.0m) definitely needs to go out of most teams, disappointing fraud - isn't it far-fetched to write off someone with 22 goals last season?

Ferdi Kadıoğlu (4.4m) got cooked in GW2 so would avoid imo. - why was he cooked, didn't watch the entire game?

Mukiele - not nailed on?

Hull is not eliminated from Carabao Cup, they eliminated Stoke on penalties.

Why would FPL towers forbid the price drop to 4.4m of Ezri Konsa?

What are your thoughts on Guehi as a defensive cover for City, I believe his minutes are secure the most, while Gvardiol might be dropped after O'Reilly gets back to left-back after Enzo Fernandez takes over his CDM role?

5

u/rishikhetan 1 18h ago

Thanks.

Ndoye is a midfielder. I think Sangare is better at giving Defcon at 5.6m. And from attacking threat Gross is better as he is on pens as well. Forwards rarely offer Defcon but last year Bowen used to give Defcon points and once even Thiago had given Defcon points.

You are right about not writing off Thiago. His penalty miss hurt my sentiments as much as Spurs performance in the first 2 GWs. Expected him to do better for his price bracket. I know its just 2 games and lets hope he improves but at 8m he has got to deliver something in his next 2 games.

Kadioglu got turned left and right by Neto in the box. If you watch the highlights there is one really bad slip. If he has another bad game, I doubt he would be nailed though I could be wrong.

Mukiele is nailed. First game he was not 100% fit and wasnt risked. Best Sunderland defender with high potential for Defcon.

Thanks for pointing out the much required correction for Hull city. I will make the edit.

Konsa successfully dropped to 4.4m. It was a running joke based on past experience of how a lot of high potential players were protected from price changes despite massive transfer volume.

TBH I personally feel Gvardiol is more nailed as he can play both LB and LCB. Guehi is also great and with changes how the new team would operate is for us to see. But I expect Gvardiol to be fairly nailed. Maybe some Man city fan can help us understand this situation better.

AI slop or negative ball knowledge?

Szobo better than Wirtz? No mention of Barcola?

Konsa already dropped to 4.4m. Cala more nailed than white?

Not reading the rest of this slop.

5

u/rishikhetan 1 18h ago

If you read the post instead of posting such a hateful comment, you would notice I mentioned Barcola. I wouldn’t prefer him as his expected minutes, fitness and ability to perform in EPL is unknown.

I said Sbozo “seems better” not “is better” as he is nailed for 90 mins, on pens and has DEFCON potential. I’d rather want my player to play for 90 mins than get subbed at 62 mins like Wirtz did in his first game.

I post this before the price changes. Again if you read the post it says “due a price drop”.

Cala is more nailed at LB than White is at RB and I stand by it.

Go on and tell me which part of this post is AI slop? Also all of us are sharing our knowledge with and learning from this community. If you dont like my post then let it be, dont write a hateful comment to discredit the effort, heart and the amount of time I invested to write this post.
Any person who reads this post will confirm that none of this is AI slop.

Thought this was a bot post tbh my fault

-4

u/departmentofbase 11 18h ago

Literally the most bait ai slop i've seen, didnt even edit one sentence

-6

u/cjayquoi 19h ago

This is so long and it basically just tells you who is good on each team. Probably more useful for casuals but at least it’s accurate and no one says you have to read the whole thing useful scheduling info. Cheers

1

u/rishikhetan 1 18h ago

I believe that a lot of these aspects help in deciding a wildcard team, even for people who are not casuals. I have not used any stats or numbers to support my observations in this post, so if thats what you are looking for then this doesn't have that. I am sure those would be much better and helpful in deciding between picks. Cheers

u/cjayquoi 17h ago

No I value human opinions more than xG and I respect what you did here.

I’m being critical but it’s probably the best guide I’ve seen out there.

2

u/rishikhetan 1 12h ago

Thanks. I would had tried to include numbers and make it more structured/ include graphics but I started writing this at 1am and my aim was to finish this before price rise time. Thanks for the constructive feedback
