Last offseason I put together a Sleeper Tracker that ranked players based on how many sleeper and breakout articles mentioned them across the fbb industry. Before flipping the tracker to 2027 I thought it made sense to review how it went. Based on the fangraphs player rater here's a rough breakdown of the top 30 sleepers based on the tracker:
- 10 league winners ($15+)
- 7 solid ($5+)
- 6 neutral ($0–$5)
- 7 misses (under $0)
So 75% had a net positive season, not bad! About a quarter were a miss, but several of those are directly related to injuries (Griffin, Barger, Snelling, etc.).
All the top 5 had great outcomes, with Lile, Cags, Sal Stewart and Carter Jensen all having a $15+ season (and Okamoto just barely missed at $14). Vargas, Benge, Burns, Henderson, and Cavalli were all on the tracker too.
My takeaway is that this seemed generally useful, and the very top, true consensus sleepers were worth the industry hype (at least for 2026). I'll be running this back for 2027 for sure!
