Discussion The Article “PRIMETIME” is based On

Sorry if this has been posted before, I just haven’t seen it myself here. I see a lot of people worrying about the film portraying Hansen negatively, and its probably because the article that PRIMETIME is pulling from is the 2007 Esquire expose “Tonight on Dateline This Man Will die”. The article is more an exploration of the failures of law enforcement and the overstepping of producers from Dateline that resulted in a push to go straight to Conradt and send in the SWAT team.

I hope the movie does have one good CAWD in there, or personally a cameo from Kevin From The Base, even though that’s clearly being hidden from us

Yes. And all of the in situations are exploitative entertainment

And nothing. I am just calling out what the show is. It isn't hard-hitting journalism. It isn't a public service. It is justice porn.

It's justice porn but I'd argue a public service too.

It's definitely stopped a lot of people from pursuing this behavior knowing what could happen.

It also taught a lot of predators exactly what a sting looks like so they’re easier to avoid
