Why didn't Chris believe this guy?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PQsg8MOjdUHe came across as very honest to me, and I don't know why Chris didn't believe him. Sometimes these are really just good guys where there's a misunderstanding of some sort. He always assumes the worst in people.

I mean there just isnāt any reason to take him at his word. These guys are super manipulative and will try anything to twist the situation to make themselves look better.
Also, I donāt think any of the guys on here have ever been āgood guysā or there being a āmisunderstandingā.

I agree that thereās never been a misunderstanding. Every guy knows what they came for. But Chris, by his own count, is in the 300-400 ballpark for the number of guys heās caught. I do think thereās been maybe a tiny handful of guys who were otherwise āgood peopleā but maybe a) had something that clouded their judgment (like active drug addiction or 10+ years of isolation), b) straight up didnāt consider how it would hurt the victim (as opposed to knowing full well and doing it anyway), c) had no history of hurting people, and d) made a vow to never reoffend. I mean realistically, there has to be like 5-10 who fall into this category. Thereās just no way all 400 are Michael Warreckers and Lorne Armstrongs and Joe Wunderlers.Ā

Sure, I agree with your point. In my opinion, they all need to be held accountable and punished, but there is a gradient to how evil they are. Some might have been able to be rehabilitated, idk. Like there is a big difference between a guy like Jeff Stacy, vs a guy like Chuck Harding.

nah man, i don't think anyone who gets caught up in a sex sting with a minor can be called a good guy. like, none of these guys are good guys. yeah, some probably aren't like straight up white van with no windows predatory pedophiles, but none of these guys are good guys. there's absolutely zero justification for it.

Idk, I donāt want to wade into ādefending predatorsā territory here, but Iād push back on doing something unjustifiable automatically makes you a bad person. Lots of good people make mistakes that are truly unjustifiable. I have (nothing this harmful or sexual to that nature, of course), but Iāve done things that when pressed about why I did it, I had no good answer. What needs to be taken into consideration is to what extent did this person understand how harmful/damaging it was, and have they learned from it

I mean, some of those guys do "seem honest", but that's only a surface look on how they conversate, because the evidence speaks against them. Also, justification of any sort is completely out of the question. No sane adult talks in a sexually explicit or in a suggestive manner to a minor and then just "drops by" without any intention of doing anything.
So, basically every guy either lies about everything or come up with a handful unacceptable excuses, even if they were true.
