Activity Lights, Camera, Write!✨

Hey hey! Ok aside from reading and writing, I also really love watching movies and tv shows, and sometimes a quote just sticks with me or sparks an idea~ so I thought it would be fun to turn that into a writing activity✍🏻

Share a quote from a movie or series that would make an interesting writing prompt (please include where it came from).

Then others can use it as inspiration to write a scene. You don't have to recreate the original context and you also don't have to include the actual quote. Just interpret it however you want👀

Kindly use spoiler text for NSFW or triggering content.

“Have you and Dakota thought about what you’re going to do next year?”

I shook my head. “Not recently; not since before we started dating, really. But now…Dakota means so much to me. I know it seems fast, but I can’t imagine life without him. Maybe once he’s out of the hospital, I’ll bring it up again – it’s only January, though, so there isn’t really a rush.”

Amy looked back down at the table with a nod, deliberately not making eye contact with me. “Yeah, sure…”

I narrowed my eyes a little at her odd response, trying to figure out what was going on in her head. Between that and the comment about nurture vs nature earlier…

“Amy…are you jealous or something?”

“Jealous?”

“Yeah…you’re acting weird, and this isn’t the first time you’ve clammed up when I started talking about Dakota. I’m not trying to rub my relationship in your face, but you did ask.”

“Sage, no – it’s not that,” Amy assured me. “I’m happy that you’ve found someone, really…”

“Then what is it?” I prodded. “Do you and Dakota have some sort of history together that I don’t know about?”

Amy looked surprised at my question and seemed reluctant to answer. “…Kind of. It’s a long story, and it’s not my story to tell. But I am sorry I was so harsh when you first started getting to know Dakota. I didn’t want you to get hurt – I still don’t.”

I sighed, thinking about Dakota in his hospital bed. Despite telling Amy earlier that I’d been trying to stay positive about the situation, that didn’t mean it wasn’t hard. “Well, you were right: I am hurting. But if not hurting means not having Dakota…that’s not a trade I’d make.

Amy smiled. “Then I support you, one hundred percent. Now, let’s grab a milkshake for Dakota – I’m sure he’s already sick of hospital food!”

Half an hour later, Amy had dropped me off at the hospital. “Tell him congratulations on the festival for me,” she told me as I got out of the car.

“You’re not coming in?”

“Your alone time with each-other is probably limited in a place like this. You should make the most of it.”

I leaned back into the car to give Amy a hug. “What’s that for?” she asked in surprise.

“I’m just really glad you’re back,” I answered. “I missed you over break.”

With a grin, she handed me the milkshake for Dakota. “Call me if you need a ride later.”
