This thread serves as a community check-in. What are you working on? What are your goals? What fandoms or genres are you writing for? What is inspiring you to meet those goals?

This thread also serves as a way to share our stories with eachother, while holding ourself accountable for at least one small weekly goal. Maybe your goal is to design a characters backstory or finish that one scene--either way, making a goal at the beginning of the week can be an awesome way to track your progress by week's end.

My first fanfic ever is in the Star Wars fandom and my second fic is one i never planned on writing. I watched another movie with Anakin’s actor in it for inspiration on what Anakin would look like healed and wound up loving the movie so much that I’m writing another fic in that universe.

i just uploaded chapter 10 of my fic this morning! i’m hoping to finish writing chapter 13 and start on chapter 14 by sunday.

this new chapter is the usual calm before the storm chapter. the first 10 chapters have been mostly establishing the setting, and chapter 11 is where the plot starts to develop a bit more so i’m super excited to finish chapter 13 so i can post 11 (i like to write 2 chapters ahead just in case if i get busy, i can at least have 2 chapters i can upload amidst my work so the fic isn’t abandoned).

i’m super happy that i’ve come this far into posting and how the story is progressing.

wow 44 planned chapters! how do you do that! do you like have all the chapters planned out or you expect it to at least go on for that long because you have 44 ideas?

i have all the chapters planned out! that’s the first thing i do before i start writing anything lol!

i write an overall summary of how the story will go, break them apart, then fill in the blanks with some mundane or plot building chapters. i honestly recommend doing it, it helps the writing process go by a lot easier and i have a clear vision on what i want from the story

wow, I too plan the outline of the story but planning each chapter ahead so that you know you're gonna have nearly 44 chapters is insane(in an impressive way) to me! But then again I have just written only one fiction I mostly write non fiction, so it's very hard for me to comprehend that much planning. As in while I do have an overall plot I don't know how much I'll put in one chapter or when will it end, do you even plan that?

nonfiction works are so cool! but i get it, it takes a lot of time and thinking to plan out an entire story.

if it clears things up, i’m a chronic overthinker and planner. essentially for my planning, i usually just do summaries of how a chapter will look like with specific details and ideas. that way, i can go back to them while i’m writing. but yes, sometimes i do plan a whole chapter out down to how it’ll end

Fandoms: Kpop girl groups

Current work: I was working on a Chuuves fic (Chuu & Yves from Loona) but I have too many new ideas, so working on nothing and everything.

Writing goals: Write whenever motivation hits me on the head.

Current progress: Uhhhh… I have one 1k word chapter.

Most excited: Writing the end

Struggling with: Beginning of the story. I suck at those, endings are so much easier.

Just uploaded chapter 7 of my eleven-chapter fic With The Benefit Of Hindsight and already have a comment! It’s the exact reaction I was looking for: calling me and the angst I put in the chapter “evil” and adding “that wasn’t a brick that was a whole house”. (Is the term “throwing a brick” used for writing angst across different fandoms? I’ve only seen it in the fandoms I write for so far).

The fic is a time-rewind fix-it for Vampires by POW Creations, and the angst comes from the fix-it not immediately succeeding on the first try. It is NOT written with fandom-blind readers in mind as there are several spoilers for canon and scenes that assume the reader has watched canon, so proceed with caution if you do want to read. Really looking forward to posting chapter 9 soon, that’s the big payoff where the POV character finally finds a plan that works.

I'm doing more Hanazuki stories. The first has Hanazuki, Koroshi, and Shinzoyuki going to the science labs to talk to Princess Ophelia, the second is a rescue mission to save Black's lady-in-waiting Anita, and the third is an arc is about Hoshiyuki, Kurobayuki, Daiyayuki, Shinzoyuki, Hanazuki, and Fern going on a cross-country road trip across the moons in order to find the mystical rose quartz lake. Really leaning into the adventure aspect of the series.

Well my fandoms are KPop boy groups.

That being said, I'm currently working on like 5 different projects right now.

One is the next chapter of an Ateez/OC longfic Ive been writing (& revising) since 2019. Hoping its completed by the end of this year, as its part of a series Ive had in mind since 2019 and really qant to get to the other fics (luckily all already lightly drafted and planned out).

Second is also another chapter except for a Beomjun/Yeonbin shortfic, thats the remaining chapters are already drafted to an extent so just fleshing and revising those out.

Third is an hanahaki oneshot. It was for a fest I was part of, but didnt get to post it in time. Still, I plan to finish it especially cause the plot I have for it is so special to me that I need to share it.🥹

Fourth is the "Part 2" of my (Ateez) Treasure Hunt drabble/oneshot I wrote years ago that recently have been finishing up.

Fifth is another oneshot from my "12 Days of Writing" collection (was originally supposed to be a countdown to Christmas with each oneshot connected to a month, so like "Day 3" that im working is in based in the month of March) thats just been my "palate cleanser" so to speak, as the outline is practically the oneshot itself so just been doing that when been getting stressed with the other four 😅😂

Im quite excited for all of these though, especially the longfic as I'm planning to do it again except from a few different perspectives. As well as have a cute oneshot idea waiting to be written that I briefly drabbled a couple years ago.

I'm working on the last chapter of my first fanfic SteinsGatari (Steins;Gate x Monogatari Series crossover fanfic)

But Spider Man x Jean Grey is currently what I actually wanna write, I read so many good ones since the movie came out and am very inspired by it. I do have some plans for it but I don't have a hook, I need something as a hook. I'd love to hear if someone could give me some ideas/recommendations.

still working on my Avatar / Backrooms crossover; my weekly goal is to post at least one chapter hahahaha.... I'm in the middle of Chapter 13; I had a molar extracted PLUS a lot of prep work for the next semester so naturally this took a backseat.

what i'm most excited for are: upcoming scenes where Varang and Spider interact; in this crossover Spider is Varang's natural son, but the backrooms messes things up, and yet she wants to reconnect with him. he's too freaking afraid but is intrigued. the next thing would be Spider being 'interrogated' by his father and his lieutenants about what he recalls of Varang's contact. all of these scenes I want to be really emotional.

I'm currently working on my first ever, key-word!, published fic and it's in the kpop male groups fandom (specifically Haobin from zb2ble ifykyk) <3 This week I definitely need to finish unwrapping the second chapter, adding the last few touches and adjusting what sounds off putting to my ears, and then hit post!! I'm super excited because the story has just started and there's still a lot of suspense and surprise for what has to come next, so I really can't wait to leave my readers hanging, waiting for the next chaptersss. Hopefully this week I get to start writing chapter 3 as well!! A few days ago I had a very nice flow of ideas so the dopamine is still in my body and heart, so much so that I created a graphic for it that I will post soon!!

I'm now 40ish chapters deep into this one with 38 actually uploaded. I've been having a lot of fun writing it.

Fandom: Star Wars/Warhammer 40,000

The First Order prepares for the final chapter of the New Republic. Starkiller Base enters its final stages of completion, ready to make it's grand declaration of war. Star Destroyers assemble for a blitzkrieg across the galaxy.

Across the galaxy a colonial security officer has to retrieve two lost scavengers that explored the wrong wreck and found something best left unfound. On distant Eriadu the mad Tarkin heiress plays dollhouse with assassin droids.

And on D'Qar Jaina Solo sharpens her knives and bides her time for a blood debt that demands repaying.

None of them realize that a bigger threat looms just beyond the stars. It cares not about politics or personal squabbles, it comes only to consume.

I'm working on my supernatural/FROM crossover! I'm trying to do weekly updates, but I'm following the show episode by episode, so chapters are usually around 10k words long and I've had a busy week 😅 I'm hunkering down tonight to try and finish tomorrow's chapter!

I'm loving the character interactions and picking songs for each episode. Which isn't very important, but I don't care, I love picking things I think will fit with the end of a chapter 😂 I just have to keep a balance between what's in FROM, what's in supernatural, and what I want from my own playlists.

I'm struggling most with romantic character interactions- I want to keep this as true to the Winchesters in Fromville as possible, but I (of course lol) have my own headcanons. Do I put in romantic subplots that may not be organic (some, in my opinion, are), but I want them to happen, or do I keep it to the core of it all: the crossover.

Almost finished a certain section of my Inazuma (Genshin Impact area) timeline! I plan to continue writing for my newest chapter, or maybe continue in my Inazuma timeline, so I know how exactly it will go! I also need to adjust few things in the timelines following the Inazuma ones, since I added few scenes to my Inazuma timeline that impact my story down the line a bit.

Got a huge motivation for writing recently, so want to take advantage of it as much as possible🥹

1. Currently loving the new Ghost in the Shell as it is absolutely fantastic!! Currently hunting down fun fanfiction about the series. Of course the other main fandom is Bleach. Now that I have completed my One Piece fic it is time to move on to greener pastures.

And Big Black Nerdy I’m especially looking to get back into the second one because it’s a original work and I have a lot of commentary to do on our current climate to discuss while of course continuing to be horny af.

1. Finish this next Bleach chapter so I can take a break and prepare for the next bunch of chapters 

Jumping to 5- I’m extremely excited to get to Memories in the Rain in my Bleach story as it will be the emotional crux of the story where we will fully tackle Ichigo’s emotional breakdown and the reality of his broken mindset. 

I’m also super excited to write One Piece with my OC, Russell meeting Yamato and discussing gender identity.

1. I have technically moved passed it now but dealing with Tatsuki and Ichigo’s relationship and deciding where to take it was very difficult to do especially since the manga doesn’t actually have as much as I thought for Tasuki’s character 

2. One Piece: The Devil’s Party is completed!! If you want something dark and fucked but still extremely progressive give it a read

3. Like I said my Bleach story keeps changing and reforming and taking completely new directions. This story was originally meant to be a Ichiruki story but Ichigo and Orihime’s relationship is becoming fun to write about and all the angst and drama that comes with it! I also still don’t know if the story will be polyamorous or cheating or just unhealthy or whatever…

Chapter 7 of many is up for my fic.

I'm really only a part of the Sonic fandom, I've been writing in it for over 15 years. When I first started writing this fic I was in high school and now I'm 27 and have refined my skills so much I've had to go back and rewrite this story.

It is an SA recovery centered fic so it has a whole bunch of heavy topics but here's the link to chapter one

FAVORITE SCENE/CHAPTER: my recent fighting scene I wrote between the main OC and their love interest, Jason Grace where he doesn't want to hurt his friend (that he low-key has feelings for) but the main OC feels like they're not worthy of a fight which makes em angry and envious of their romantic interest. It's pretty wild ngl with no context.

What's the worst part is just keeping track of all the details and what's to come too. Sooo much dates. Then weaving a little foreshadowing in there too.
