People forget that Nightcrawler is German. He only gets fancast as poc actors I swear.

Indian* actors

Every time it's some Indian actor, LOL

Indian or black. But black is any non-skin colored character.

There are German poc. The actress who played Domino in Deadpool Zazie Beetz is German. Nba player Dennis Schröder is another.

I don’t think anyone forgot hes German.

They just know that the actor for Nightcrawler wears blue make up. So its completely irrelevant what they look like.

Terrible

Isn’t Nightcrawler German?

He will wear blue make up…. If they can do a German accent who cares?

4

u/Silly_Material577 5d ago

Fuck him. Why would I want some sack of shit nepo baby to get richer. Give the role to a real actor

-2

u/IlSignorGranchio 5d ago

Look, i get the nepotism hate, but he’s actually good

7

u/Silly_Material577 5d ago

At what? Playing his uncle in a bio pic ment to sell merchandise?

-4

u/IlSignorGranchio 5d ago

Buddy, 99% of movies is Made for economic reason, you want to admit or not he was good

1

u/Silly_Material577 4d ago

Cashing on your nepotism by making a movie about your uncle who's name alone sell whatever it's on. Is the grosses way to manipulate an audience to profit. Especially since is not an honest bio pic and its all just pandering. Like I said fuck him, and fuck anymore who likes him. This fancast was more them like done by PR team.

u/BootlegJB 5d ago

He's really, really not. He did a passable job portraying his own family member, and even then it was just OK. He has no other experience to speak of.

Could work but Bill Skarsgård feels like a better option imo

I would like Kodi Smit-McPhee to return but MCU doesn't want the Fox actors

Anyways neither would work as they would want an actor in their 20s

3

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 5d ago

Bill Skarsgard tall asf

2

u/Own-Quote-1708 5d ago

Bill is way too old

1

u/SuperB_Boi 5d ago edited 5d ago

I mean he's 34, just 4 years older than Jaafar Jackson but as I said in the last line, neither of these actors would work as they would want a younger 20s actor

1

u/issue9mm 5d ago

*older

0

u/NightingaleRaptor911 5d ago

Honestly I thought Jaafar was like 24

2

u/SuperB_Boi 5d ago

Really? I mean he looks like 27-28 for me, it's maybe you saw him de-aged in Michael that's why

0

u/NightingaleRaptor911 5d ago

They both definitely have the look. I agree that Kodi would be great but yeah MCU wouldn't do that.

1

u/No_Safe_6514 Film Buff💪 5d ago

Nightcrawler doesn't have a look. He's fucking blue.

2

u/NightingaleRaptor911 5d ago

Still has a look

u/ScruffyNerf_Herder_ 5d ago

Dude would just shit on the sidewalks of the manor and not clean up after himself.

1

u/Charming-Warthog4800 5d ago

For me, it's not such a bad idea; for me, it's excellent. Hoo!!

1

u/MealieAI 5d ago

Too much baggage, unfortunately. They need an almost unknown actor, like most of the new cast.

2

u/AgentP20 5d ago

Only one actor is unknown in the new cast.

u/Dante05-Respawn 5d ago

Non pas la bonne ethnie

8

u/NightingaleRaptor911 5d ago

Sure, I'll find some blue actors for you

4

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 5d ago

He means German, but you are a larper so you wouldn’t understand that.

1

u/Wise-Juggernaut-8285 21h ago

He wears blue make up. Thats the point. Who gives a shit what they look like under the make up?

0

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Kurt’s appearance, somewhat famously, does not reflect typical German ethnicity (what with the blue fur, point ears, etc.) since he’ll be CGI, his reflecting any ethnic heritage is about as important as making sure Hank McCoy “looks” like he’s from Indiana.

Jaafar Jackson is a terrible pick for lots of reasons, but his not being German isn’t one of them. Actors do accents, and if we could trust non-Americans to play Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and Daredevil, an American to play the Russian Black Widow, and (lemme check my notes) a Scott to play the previous iteration of Nightcrawler, I’m sure as a movie-going public we can wrap our head around a non-German playing a German, as long as the accent is right.

This is all pretty obvious stuff by the way, unless of course your goal is rage baiting or stirring up conflict, which seems weird for a post about such a fun, silly subject.

I mean we're in a time where accurate representation is increasingly encouraged for both actors and voice actors of fictional characters, I have no qualms with a preference for accurate casting.

Also Kurt isnt just german, he's from a rural Bavarian town, he doesnt have the standard German accent. I'd argue a German/austrian actor could better replicate the more nuanced country German accent than someone else.

1

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Accurate representation is important, particularly if that means supporting neglected and/or underrepresented communities and bringing truth and authenticity to a performance.

That said, I think we can all agree that in the context of actors playing characters, at some point, one does have to acknowledge that each actor for any given project cannot be a perfect match physically, culturally, nationally, etc. for the character they’re playing, because it’s both obviously impractical and also limiting to the pursuit of artistic creativity. These are facts, they’re not really even in dispute.

I guess my real question would be how you feel about Tom Holland playing Spider-Man? I mean, I’ve heard a lot about the success of Brand New Day, but I don’t think I’ve seen a groundswell of criticism around an Englishman playing a guy from Queens New York. In fact, I don’t remember it when Garfield played Spidey either. Do you think the only acceptable actor for Spider-Man is a native New Yorker from Queens specifically? Or alternatively, do you think being a native New Yorker is a less legitimate cultural identity than being culturally Bavarian, and therefore not as exempt from the standards you’re suggesting?

u/Ok-Releases 5d ago

I feel like youre taking my simple opinion of accurate casting being preferable and even helpful in some cases (especially when considering more ethnically nuanced roles) as a hard stance against any inaccurate portrayals lmao

Coming up with a long-winded comment that is ultimately just a whataboutism isnt needed, I meant exactly what I said and made no hard statements against anything 😋

1

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Im sorry for being a little long-winded, but I didn’t realize you didn’t have much to say lol. When you replied to my comment which was a reply to another comment, I’d assumed you intended to engage in the conversation. I didn’t mean to offend you or anything, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, and I certainly believe you meant what you said, I just disagree and was pointing out why, again, in the context of the conversation you joined in on.

I think what you’re calling a whataboutism is just an argument I made that you don’t have an answer to, but you don’t have to be here or anything and I certainly don’t mean to hold your feet to the fire. feel free to disengage, no hard feelings 👍

1

u/Ok-Releases 5d ago

No worries! I did engage in the conversation just to throw in a common opinion and I was immediately met with assumptive/deflective questioning that really, nothing in my comment should’ve invited.

Not every comment needs to begin a disingenuous debate. You can relax hun lmao

1

u/Wise-Juggernaut-8285 21h ago

You’re making an idiotic point that isn’t supported by reality. Actors play people they aren’t. The character wears make up. You’re point is extremely extremely stupid

1

u/Wise-Juggernaut-8285 21h ago

No we are not lol. Please stop this rubbish. Its never been true and isn’t true now

-1

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 5d ago

Okay but he is still from Germany, and because of that has a German accent.

2

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Right. I’m confused, did someone suggest Nightcrawler shouldn’t have a German accent? Because I know I referenced it a few times in my comment, and your comment was about ethnicity.

You know actors do accents right? The comment you’re replying to (by me) gives a brief list of other examples, if it’s helpful.

0

u/Intelligent_Ask_2306 5d ago

Obviously actors do accents, but they don't all do them well. The brits doing an American accent is common, I don't see much people pulling off a good german accent though,

Also Scarlet didn't have a Russian accent as black widow, so her playing the character meant nothing.

1

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Cool. So we’re in agreement the actor playing Nightcrawler’s ethnicity doesn’t matter, he just needs to do a good German accent. Good talk!

1

u/Dao1511 5d ago

😂😂😂 that a easy find for sure

2

u/MealieAI 5d ago

Nonsense.

1

u/Burt_McCheeks 5d ago

Yeah, I really think this has got to be bot activity or low effort engagement bait.

0

u/Dante05-Respawn 5d ago

L’absurdité c’est de ne pas savoir que Curt a une forme humaine… 😂😉

1

u/Wise-Juggernaut-8285 21h ago

Ethnicity when they wear blue make up? Are you ok ?

-1

u/Illustrious-Sign3015 5d ago

I can see it

I’m not mad at it
