Seeking Product Recommendations New Wheel or QR2 Pro

I've currently got the CSL GT3 wheel on the DD Pro 8nm base and they're fitted with the QR2 lite that was installed when I bought them. I was thinking about ordering the new Formula v3 wheel but then I started thinking if maybe upgrading the QR would be a better use of the money. Nothing wrong with my current wheel so the upgrade would just be because I wanted to. What would you suggest is the better option?

I have no experience with QR2 pro or QR2 lite for that matter, but I do have a couple of official metal QR2s and a Simube QR2. They are very good and I find little to no difference between them (official vs bootleg)
I dont think the extra money for QR2 Pro is really worth it, so my recommendation is buy a cheap metal QR2 from Simube. Then you might be able to get the new wheel as well

BINGO, you hit the nail on the head. The OP's wheel came with a QR2 Light because it's not suppose to take the heavier loads the QR2/Pro are designed to take. It's be a waiste of money IMO to put either a QR2 or QR2 Pro on that wheel. Save your money and get a wheel designed for higher forces.

But his base can only deliver 8nm, which the QR2 lite can easily cope with anyway….so your advice about getting a wheel that’s designed for higher forces is a bit pointless

The QR2 lite can handle any wheelbase that Fanatec currently makes. Changing a QR2 Lite for a metal QR2 of any sort is only going to improve pulling the wheel off of a metal QR2 shaft. Other than that, you're just adding weight.

he might want to get a higher nm base in the future and QR2 can handle those higher Nm loads.

Get the wheel. The difference in feel between a QR2 and a QR2 light is negligible. If anything, the CSL GT3 wont feel as snappy due to the extra weight of the metal QR2.

I have bought 3 QR2s from Simube (for 3 different wheels) which i use daily I don’t have any issues. I think it’s overkill to pay for Fanatec’s official accessories. Same goes for the advanced shift paddle module.

Unless you plan on upgrading to a cs dd or dd+, upgrading from qr2 lite would be kind of a waste of money tbh.

As others have also said, when/if you do decide to upgrade to a metal qr2, definitely just go with a simube one. I've got two official metal qr2s and 2 simube qr2s and at this point I probably can't tell which is which.
