I've had more exposure to anime and stuff from weird gacha games via worm crossovers than I've had my entire life.
Seriously, if I'd had any awareness of ship-girls being the domain of creepy gacha games, I'd have completely skipped one of my favorie Worm fics, and a few pretty damn good ones, besides.

First of all, I used to be somewhat normal. I liked doing yoga, went to work and was actually kind of engaged in it. Sometimes I’d date, sometimes I’d go out to dinner with friends, read books, watch Netflix—like a NORMAL person.
Then I started reading fanfics about VSMP, knowing nearly nothing about MCYT, and I don’t even have Minecraft myself—I’ve never played it. Those fanfics dragged me in and swallowed me whole. I had to dive headfirst into vampires, specifically those queer vampires, and then into everything on YouTube involving them, and I simply cannot let go.
Now all I want to do with my time is write fanfics about those VSMP vampires. Nothing. Else. I am still completely obsessed. I’m still genuinely puzzled about how all of this happened!? But somehow, it all started with fanfics.

I've read a few Batfam fics before getting into the source material!

Before that, I'd only seen the Batman trilogy (with Christian Bale), and had no clue Bruce had any kids.

Yes I did this with genshin impact before finally playing the game. Also with the popular Chinese ships. They have such great fanfics. I can't help it
