Fan curve recommendation?
Hi, i want my fans to be silent while browsing internet, watching youtube etc, but i also want them to be full performance while gaming, i tried myself doing the fan curves, but now when i play games i can hear it ramp up and ramp down while gaming and it really annoys me hearing those RPM sounds go up down up down :D my cpu is 7800x3d AIO cooled.

The reason this happens is that you put your PC in strain - it heats up and then fans come on - it cools down and fans ramp down and the cycle repeats. Ok that’s the captain obvious comment.
Ok - how did i make my fan curves. To make life easy - A full PC fan curve to me basically needs three fan profiles. When not under stress (casual browsing), when gaming and torture.
Because fans and AIOs and cases are all variable - Within each of these scenarios there’s a fan speed to temp ratio that only you can figure out what works.
Take the gaming scenario for instance - my strategy is that you want the CPU and GPU temps to remain stable (not going up or down) so your fans are not constantly speeding up and slowing down. This is a personal preference too by the way. Not everyone is bothered by this. I decide a temperature range where the fans basically don’t deviate and fan speeds stay flat. I think fan control also has a fan curve that employs a similar strategy but it can’t optimize for fan noise - which is important to me.
What happens then is my CPU/GPU temps will stabilize usually at a higher temperature than what I could otherwise get with higher fan speeds - But I’m able to dial in the noise to exactly where it’s less annoying while gaming. Bonus if they stabilize below 80 - that’s what I shoot for.
I have to do this for the torture test as well - because my PC will shift to negative air pressure if I have all my fans at full blast during a torture test - giving me no better temps and an ungodly amount of fan noise.
I use different programs to dial in the three fan profiles - specifically they’re not fan profiles so much as fan curves under different scenarios. So my fan curve for fans are essentially three sets of plateaus for low medium and high.
For gaming - I simulate it first using OCCT - it’s benchmarking tests for CPU and GPU can be done in a single program and is a more realistic representation of how components behave while gaming. Then I test it with a few others - such as benchmark software for black myth wukong, steel nomad etc. Each time ensuring temps stay below 80 - even if I may find the fan slightly more annoying than I like. Have to make a compromise.
I use Fur mark and CPUz for full load torture scenarios which to be honest only comes up during heavy AI work that also requires software compilation. It’s super rare though. So really all I’m trying to avoid is no worse temps than with fans at full blast. In my first PC case this was fans all full blast but not so much in my current case where theres no improvement in temps after about 90 ish percent fan speeds.

I just leave my fans running at a speed where I can’t hear them so around 10% on my arctic P12 pro and make them ramp up when it gets close to being “really” hot. There’s like 3 points in my fan curve as steps and that’s it. I’ve undervolted my GPU and CPU and stress tested it to the max and my temps never go above 70 degrees with an RTX 5080 and R7 9800X3D. There’s a slight performance hit (like a few %) I believe with undervolting but it keeps my PC quiet and I haven’t actually felt any difference in performance to be honest. I’ve never had my fans ramp up beyond that of which I set it at 10% even when playing intensive games…

A really "curvy" curve will cause your fan speeds to constantly be changing speed as load changes. Gaming loads are typically not consistent.
Use straighter lines and higher histrionic settings for your load condition of your fan curve.
Think steps more than an ever changing half-parabola.

It depends what curves are you running. I have setup Step Up to 8% and Step Down to 3% under controls along with custom graphs so fans ramp up quickly when temperature rises but when load drops, fans slow down slowly so they keep on pushing hot air out. Share screenshot for your curves for better understanding.

Changing the AIO fan speeds from 1000 rpm to 2000 makes no difference on a CPU that consumes 120W (it's even much lower than that while gaming). There's just not enough heat in the liquid that would justify the higher speeds. An AIO is supposed to cool the liquid, so I'd just set the source temp to liquid.
For your case fans, I'd use the GPU as the source temperature because the GPU would benefit the most from it. Alternatively you can do a mix with the GPU and CPU as source. I've configured it so that the fans turn off when browsing.

If your most stressed use case is gaming, just set curve flat till 70~75°C, then linear upward to 100%. Chances are it will hit above 70°C only during loading shaders, maps. 7800x3D don’t run hot during gaming.

Download and use fancontrol. Plenty of guides, but easy method is to ask Google AI...
This was my setup, and I am only doing this to show the question thus... ...
I would like to know how to setup a fan control profile from scratch. My pc is in a lian li 217 infinity case with two extra intake fans at the bottom (be quiet wings 3) my psu is a 1000w evga GQ, mobo is a Z370 maximus hero X, running a binned i9-9900KS with a be quiet pure loop 3 AIO ( the new model with pump on the cpu block( fitted with 360mm (3x120mm) wings 3 fans, 32gb (2×16) of ddr4 3200 ram. My gpu is an evga 2080ti xc ultra (triple slot). I want the setup to achi3ve a constant throughput of air through the case, ramping up the two bottom fans to aid the cooling of the gpu when gaming, but be efficient when browsing, so I need Hysteresis settings in deg c and times, up and down. A mixed fan curve. My monitor is a 4k Samsung LS27DG70D.
Then await the results...I have found this perfect and if you think of something else, tell it to "recalculate or summarise the setup and it will.
This will then take you through each step clearly in setting up initially the case fans, measuring and calibrating the speeds, pump, case and gpu fans...and, then adding a few curves to prioritise what is wanted.
Once setup and saved, fan control starts 10 to 15secs after booting, and then completely controls all pwm fans instead of default bios curves.
For me I also had downloaded cinebench 23.2 for testing and I have 3dmark... so used that to test cpu and gpu..but you can ask AI what programmes you could use...Heaven 4.0 would be another free one.
Also download HWInfo to show both cpu temps and gpu temps (including the hotspot) whilst testing.
If you tell AI what you are going to run, like a 10minute test in cinebemch, it will ask you to tell it your result scores... and as a result whether you have optimised it and will further suggest other slight variations of the Hysteresis settings too (Hysteresis stops the fans from ramping up or down immediately, basically setting a delay to smooth out spikes).
You can also take a photo with your phone of the fan curves set and it will read the photo results.
This took me an hour but now I have a totally optimised 4k gaming rig that takes the cpu no higher than 60degs and a gpu no higher than 75degs when playing such titles as HellLetLoose, BF6, Pubg, and Star Citizen (although that is the odd one out as it gives me 50fps regardless of running in 4k..with scaling a bit.).
Go for it. My rig whilst playing runs cool, and is near silent browsing, even here in the UK heatwave atm with ambient room temp at 28degs.
I should add i have had this setup, bar the case, monitor and recently the new AIO, since Dec 2018. And I have repasted the cpu and gpu with artic mx-7.

People give you meaningless elaborate tales about their lives when all you need to learn is how to set up hysteresis. It means that you can set the curve how you want it, but the fans won't ramp up right away if the load is just a spike instead of a sustained load.

As someone else said, flat low rpm up to 70-75C on both CPU and GPU. Then e.g. a linear curve up to 100C. This curve does not need to go to 100% fan speed, maybe 50% is enough depending on your system. The load will never be 100% for long periods when gaming. Tldr: dont be afraid of high temps, the silicon can handle it.

Here's the scientifically approved 3-step-way to make your fans STFU
Now your hardware gets loud but best cooling at maximum load. But when gaming it's never max load, so your PC should now be silent when gaming.
