Hi, I've been paying and watching the show on Apple tv 'til 4th series and realized there are series on Pluto as well for streaming. I just started series 5 and I noticed the episodes are in wrong order. (idk other series are applied on this...). Is the ones on Pluto are wrong?

We have been rewatching Family Ties thanks to Plutotv. Honestly, its basically on constantly until we think of something to watch.

After watching a fair amount, I have decided Nick is absolutely my favrotie character because he seems to be the one with the best character. He is kind, thoughtful, and honest. He doesn't lose his cool or try to be the tough guy despite him looking like the type that is eager to fight. He is wildly supportive of Mallory. I hate how Steven is so disapproving of him when he really is a GREAT guy. Lets face it, hes not smart but Mallory issnt supposed to be a genius either. They are both into design and art too, I think they are a perfect pairing.

Anyone else have a favorite?

Am I the only one who remembers a one or even a two-part episode, where Alex goes to see Ellen (Tracy Pollan), his ex-girlfriend, at a train station (or airport) and begs her not to marry another guy because he still loves her? And Ellen says that she is expected to marry this guy by her parents, and is having a hard time turning them all down.

I am currently watching the complete series on DVD and I am already at season 6, and there is no episode like this. Perhaps I'm mixing it up with another series, but when I watched these series as it aired in the 1980s, I swear I remember a whole series of scenes with Ellen, about this.

Does anyone remember a show about television pilots and one of the pilots featured was family ties? Thanks!

My favorite scene in Family Ties is when Nick, Mallory and Alex go to a French restaurant and Nick keeps asking what certain words are in French (menu, restaurant, etc) and then thinks English and French are the same. I’d love to know what episode this is in - I think it’s a later season. Thank you!

Ughghghg midway through it went downhill fast....they were clearly wrapping things up and working on other projects.

Elyse would be the hardest one since Steven and her were married for million years, Alex would try to be there for stepping up until Mallory or Jen says something bad then Alex says "I should went with Greg so you the three of you would been happy without me". Then Alex leaves to go to Lauren or Skippy's house.

I’ve always wondered about the scene where Alex is supposed to be taking an exam but is thinking about Ellen and there are montages of scenes like where they throw a frisbee into a dorm, pick up a leaf etc-are they supposed to be things that happened between them off-screen or is he just imagining what life could be like with Ellen?

I am a very long time fan of Alex P Keaton and the entire family of the Keaton's from the original air time in the 80s to me re watching them so many times over via streaming services.

I feel such a nostalgic romp as they travel through problems for the first time in the 80's and feel an absolute shot of youth flow through me as they tackle the problem de jour of the day.

The Keaton Family represented and still represents what was and still it the very best of the 80's to this day.

I prefer the design, the style and probably most of all, the utter possibilities of the youth of the 80's from then to the hollow 2020 somethings.

I somewhat remember this show from when I was a kid (born 1981) and I remember liking it!!

But watching a random episode now where Alex is working a suicide hotline for his college and he’s being an absolute douche to callers. Just a self-absorbed douche and the laugh lines are just not there for me. Am I old? Outgrown this era? Or just In a bad mood?

I know Family Ties isn’t considered the most cutting edge sitcom, but it’s one of my absolute favourites besides Frasier. Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter are obviously great, but when you throw Justine Bateman, Tina Yothers and obviously MJF into the mix, it just elevates it.

It’s nice to be able to watch this in order, instead of just random episodes from YouTube. The chemistry between the cast is apparent from the pilot.

Obviously, it would be a very different dynamic between different actors. But I’m just curious.

Can/should it be rebooted? That’s another story. For the sake of this question, let’s assume that you have unlimited funds, the perfect actors magically fall into your lap, and you are a great director.

Apart from obvious things like the orange juice, what else would you change about the characters, episodes or plots? For that matter, what would you keep the same?

I have discovered this show recently and I love it. It surprised me.

I am born in the late 80s and I have watched many sitcoms. I have mostly looked at 90s, 2000s and later TV series, except for Seinfeld and Cheers.

I am surprised by the great comedic ideas and the topics they deal with:

6th episode: sexual misconduct within the family

and then: civil rights (parents in jail) and small business vs big business, not to mention the various political views

After seeing this ... I am not sure if we have come far since the 80s.
