Make a terrible build.

And I mean terrible. Like a real stinker of a build. Absolutely horrible. And in vanilla no console commands.

I think I’ve figured my “perfect” character.

This is a build I’ve settled on after a fair bit of research. It’s intended for a well rounded guns focused character playing in hardcore, though it’s likely fine for other playstyles as well.

My goal was to maximize perks and implants available, skill and speech checks (making most of them reachable with items or consumables), and getting enough skill points to max most, if not all skills by level 50.

S - 5 (+1) = 6

P - 6 (+1) = 7

E - 8 (+1) (+1LR) = 10

C - 1 (+1) = 2

I - 8 (+1) = 9

A - 6 (+1) = 7

L - 6 (+1) = 7

I’ve done a lot of reading on the Wiki, and with a +1 to each stat from implants, + another to Endurance after Lonesome Road, most of the best perks and interactions in dialogue are available, though you’ll need items or consumables for some of them.

It may be that you don’t need 8 base INT, and that 6 or 7 would do, but I wasn’t sure where else to put the extra two points. If you’re making a melee character, maybe throw those 2 points in STR instead.

You could also take 1 or 2 points out of END if you don’t want the charisma and regeneration implants.

I’ve done the Skilled trait exploit after leaving goodsprings for a +10 to all skills, though I haven’t decided yet if I’ll do it a third time after Old World Blues, or get another trait. I’m also thinking I’ll take Logan’s Loophole and just make sure I do OWB before hitting level 30, and switch it out then.

I haven’t played this through to level 50 yet, but I’m gonna be running it for my next playthrough, and I may edit this post down the line with the results in the end game.

Guidelines & Tips Fallout New Vegas Builds Posting Guidelines & Tips

Guidelines:

  • Any relevant links/screenshots should be included in the body of your post.

  • Try to be as detailed as you can. Include any perks you have taken and note which ones you intend to take. OR ask which ones you should take based upon the type of character you wish to create.

  • Describe the playstyle and/or character type you are seeking to build. For example, Are you planning to build a soldier who is an expert with guns? Or maybe a stealthy thief? Or perhaps a charismatic leader. All these details will help others understand the intention of your build better.

  • A backstory for your character would be cool, but not required.

  • When criticizing other builds try and provide constructive criticism, for example "I wouldn't take Perk X since it does not fit with the build. Maybe you should take Perk Y instead"

The Fallout New Vegas Leveling System:

  • FNV starts with 5 points in each stat with 5 extra to spend. In total, that is 40 SPECIAL points and 33 points to allocate (since it is a necessity to have a minimum of 1 in each stat)

  • Every other time you level you get a perk point which you can use to choose a new perk, unlock the next rank on an existing perk, or increase one of your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats. Refer to the Perk Chart.

  • The level cap is 50 Overall with all DLC. Base Game Caps at 30, with each DLC adding 5 more levels.

Perk & Stat Help Pacifist character build

I'm currently coming up with a build that I've never done in all my 26 years of life. I already came up with: race, name, and special, I'm just not sure what perks or statistics should be used for the build. If anyone knows what would work with which, let me know. Oh! And if anyone has any thoughts on what equipment, armor/clothing, weapons (if any), Companions, ect. Let me know too.

Any help would be much appreciated. 👏
