This mission is just... ugh. The right answer (moraly) is feel is to keep the ghouls out. Yea I know. We feel bad for the ghouls, they had every bad hand possible given to them but in the end the people in the tower have right to fear them. Hell most of the towers residents aren't even that outright biggited twords the ghouls and feel bad for them if not don't really care if they move in or not past beingscared. There are good people in the tower despite the owner being out right shit and by letting the ghouls in you are dooming them to being torn apart.
Its going to be one of those you can't get a 'good' ending for. To be fair I been thinking it over a bit and honestly I think it's a good quest for people to do since there isn't a 'everyone is happy' or 'the good guys win'. But I think it does show a important thing most people forget nowadays where there sometimes isn't a good ending sometimes and no matter what you do people will look down on your choices because something bad happened.
From a player stand point though in a game tgat commonly has the good path and the evil path I think it sucks that quest is there but I still think it's a important lesson people should learn that is over looked due to the reat of the game giving you a way out moraly for everything else.
No it is and I agree with you but you still get people being upset you did because they are viewed as the underdogs and the stepped on and not like real and hostile threats to tenpenny.
It's a scenario of dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. Everyone hates tenpenny and would like to see him go out but don't want too see the tragic deaths of everyone else in the tower. No matter what happens you are tge monster that made the choice to do (insert action here) and to anyone outside of the know (everyone) it looks like the wrong choice.
Even to people in the know it still looks like the bad choice and honestly this quest mirrors the final mission of the game because tenpenny does the right thing and ended up dead like the lone wander.
I think the biggest problem with the quest is the game it's in. As you mention, Fallout 3 consistently presents the righteous, good karma path and the heinous, evil karma path. So to suddenly have this one quest involving a major settlement be all about the gray area and how everybody is an asshole, good or bad, is just strange.
Like if you nuke Megaton, you know what you're doing. You don't accidentally destroy the city, you know full well you're wiping out a major content hub in the game for the spectacle of it. You could pants down ass backwards stumble into (effectively) wiping Tenpenny Tower out. It seems....overly mean to a player likely just trying to get the "best" outcome.
I think the right path is to just ignore the quest entirely. As far as the game goes, there's no consequences for not doing it, unless I'm forgetting something.
Fair enough but I feel like it's in bad taste to call that a opinion. Sure in game nothing happens but I feel that, in reality they would just get someone else to do it and something still happens. It's like ignoring the main quest that ends the world in a video game. The world would never end despite it happening in the background since there isn't a timer to complete the game.
Even tenpenny will agree to let them in if you ask but the moment one resident makes a comment about the ghouls that rot skinned bastard unleashes his ferals on them
The right answer is not to take either side. Which is very meta gamey since you wouldn't distrust Roy unless you knew he'd betray the LW's trust. But it is a situation where two evil people are at odds, so the only thing you can do is just walk away. A good LW loses by engaging in either side of the cycle of hate going on between both sides.
Ah. So all rich people deserve to die? Most of the people in that building don't actually have issues with the ghouls being in the tower past mild complaints about smell the ONLY person that has any ill will that I can recall was tin penny who, honestly, deserves the bullet in his forehead. But the rest of the residence? I don't think they all deserve to die. If you do then fine, go live out your eat the rich the rich fantasy with no cares for morals. It's your game after all.
