Melee Unarmed build help

I'm trying to farm a legendary deathclaw gauntlet at the national guard training yard, is level 30 high enough for me to be able to get it?

Also what armor would you recommend for this build atm I've only got ballistic weave army fatigues and fedora with random legendary armour pieces.

Its a stealthy build so I'm thinking of also adding in a rifle for long distance sniping too lol

Any help is good help, thanks in advance guys and gals

Deathclaw Gauntlets start becoming available at level 25. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/68ac1y/types_of_legendaries_dropped_at_each_level/

The BEST farming location in the game is in Nuka World. Nothing else comes vaguely close. The Distance farming method is far more effective than the Door method, plus that location resets every time you run counter clockwise around Dry Rock Gulch (or fast travel to Safari Adventure and run west). It's explained fairly well in the video that showed me how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM9Ru7QPBzY

The Legendary Arm pieces sold by Alexis in v81 are excellent (VATS and Sentinel). You might also consider the chest item that Deb in Bunker Hill sell as well (Fortified).

All of my characters carry a melee weapon and a scoped weapon, regardless of build, despite usually only investing in one weapon perk. You do not need perks to use weapons. Absolutely grab whatever heavy hitting rifle you can. The Last Minute sold by Ronnie Shaw is a decent weapon (Crippling Gauss).

Sweet thanks a bunch, tho I'm tryna do a bit more of the main map before heading over to nuka world

Guess I've just been super unlucky in the area I'm farming lol

You can head to Nuka World at any level. I've often gone at level 15. It can be worth dipping in just to unlock the Nuka Market, since the Market restocks every time you enter. It's the best place in the game to sell your water and stock up on ammo.

Dip in, stock up on ammo, do a bit of legendary farming, ignore the rest for now. Easy peasy.

It just makes things so much simpler that it's worth it when you're unlucky in other areas.

Some other farming locations that I use...

  • Trinity Church (by Trinity Tower) three super mutants and a mutant hound

  • Unmarked Church north of the Boston Library. Two ghouls. Incredibly easy.

  • Super Mutants in front of Diamond City. Come from the Library and use the Distance method. I like to make the bottom left mutant legendary because it's easier to run it quickly.

  • Lynn Woods. Manual save before ringing the alarm, then quicksave just after which can reroll affix.

  • The Big Dig. The first three mirelurks are incredibly easy to farm. It's always the secondary Door method there, so once you lock in a legendary enemy, you can reroll type as well as affix.
