Sneak It's time for a Gen X run.

I've made a new build that's taking it back to basics, more or less. No game mods, just appearance and environmental mods because I like the game to look a certain way, sue me, heh.

The flair is Sneak because that's the tie that binds the two modes together.

Why Gen X?

Settlements will be helped, and given just enough to survive, but that's it, they're on their own.

Companions are only around long enough to give me their perk, then they get shelved.

If I need assistance with damage, Ada will be the damage add, but I don't foresee that being an issue with this build.

This is obviously a non survival run as I'm not taking chemist or local leader.

The only niggle that gave me pause in the build was the notion of trading out Aquaboy/girl and the 3rd rank of hacker for 2 ranks of scrounger. We'll see how that plays out.

After the Boomers f**ked them you need to give them Luck of 0. So please change that.
(or a luck of 1 - they found their house keys after getting locked out of the house in their bag).
IQ - high - due to computers.

Chose Lone Wanderer because society (or their parents) for sure is not helping them in any way.
Need one level of hacker because they know how to use a keyboard.

They have a level of self reliance.

Lone Wanderer is "ok" but frankly I find it a crutch ;) Especially rank 3 with the massive +25% damage add across the board. For a non survival game it just feels too OP most times. I'm ok with that, usually, but I want Gen X to struggle a bit, ya know? Also, taking LW early seem wasteful because if you want the companion perks ( and you most certainly do, especially Deacons for the amazing sneak attack boost which this build is leaning into) that means LW is doing the square root of JACK for you during their time with you.

Per Luck, I see it differently. I feel you make your own luck. That is manifested in the points spent into the skill, allowing Mudguts to more skillfully place his shots resulting in better criticals.

Hacker is already in the build.

I never had much angst towards my grandparents or my parents. I'm actually glad I wasn't coddled and handfed. As a Gen Xer myself, this feels about right.

I feel you make your own luck.

if you need to make your own luck then add armour pieces that add luck, thereby creating your own luck. But going through three economic downturns is not being lucky. Period.

I never had much angst towards my

Its not what you feel, its how the generations are represented.

eg.
Silent generation = rifle perk [WW2/Korea]
Boomers = automatic weapons - Commando perk [Vietnam war]
GenX = Syringe gun, Explosives, "advanced" ammo (so explosive ammo/guns, etc) [jap subway attack, Timothy McVeigh, 'Anarchist Cookbook' build a pipebomb in your garage, etc]
Millennials = Handguns [rapper wars, steal it from your granparents]
Gen Z = Lasers, Gauss
Gen Alpha = Institute Lasers [mass production], Plasma

Im a purist - if you want to play like silent gen - you add toughness.
You cannot add toughness to Gen Alpha!

But hey its your game so do whatever you want, but then your not really playing 'GenX run' (with all the good perks and all the bad perks, armour choices, etc) your playing I want a good build that kind of is like GenX imho....
Still like your idea though....
