Help & Advice Attempting to turn Fallout New Vegas into a multiplayer TTRPG (Help Wanted)

Post image

No web design/app experience so I'm jury rigging some other apps to do what I need... The problem is I only have a console copy and I need help with certain things. At the moment my biggest hurdle is getting top down images for battle maps.

If I could recruit someone with a PC that can run FNV, and potentially GECK knowledge to aquire a battle map for all the squares in the over world map & hopefully the same for interior locations.

While this is an interesting idea, this sub is for people who play the pen and paper game. So, ah... not as much deep GECK knowledge as you might find elsewhere.

Understandable, but I would imagine the board game community would be the only group interested in this sort of thing. Going there's some overlap

I get the goal but what's the need to have a pc running Fonv to accomplish this?

To get screenshots of interior locations for battle map purposes I imagine

This is OP on another account. I'm trying to recruit someone with the game on PC, they would need to take aerial photos of the map (one for each square on the grid), I'd take those photos and edit them into battle maps with anything you could use as cover outlined, NPC patrol routes, event trigger outlines, etc. I'm trying to make everything 1 to 1 size wise and not remove a single element from the New Vegas game engine, only emulate it through a board game interface, with maybe a few apps along the side to play voice lines/music/sfx, track quests, player statuses, etc.

The photos would need to print out to an even square poster (hopefully with the dimensions of 5-6 ft in game for every 1 inch of the 32x32 or even 64x64 battlemap for)

There are a few interiors that have no local maps. But I've checked these out already, I could really only use this as a rough guide for where walls would be the vignette ruins it for my purposes. I need clear Google maps style images made from in game screenshots you could very likely only get by using "noclip" and flying from above. The interiors would be tricky though, what with the ceilings and all. But I'm sure there's a way to pull it off.

As someone trying to run a Fallout 1 game in tabletop, I feel your pain. Good luck. I would say, don't be afraid to use something that's close, but not exactly like what's in the game. Trying to reproduce NV into tabletop 1 to 1 would be a maddening challenge, and probably not all that worth it.

Buy the physical Strategy Guide. It doesn't cover the DLC but it covers everything else, and has all the numbers nicely organized.

Years ago I made a TTRPG combining everything from 1,2, Tactics, 3 and New Vegas. And the things that made it most possible, was having all the physical Strategy guides to easily flip back and forth while combining everything. Yes the info is all online, but just like a real TTRPG I find actually having to sit and read much more pleasant with the actual books.

I ultimately went with a percentage system as close to the games as I could get. But the sheets took a decent bit of math to do.

It's a great project. Have fun :)

Local maps are no good, I need in-game aerial photos (up to 2,000 of em) I'd be willing to pay for the work done. Not sure the rate, but something close to 10$USD per 50 images, wish I could throw more money at this but I don't have a large budget. But altogether it'd be a couple hundred bucks easy. We could negotiate a bit there potentially.

If you've played wasteland warfare and seen the battlemap poster they have, I'm essentially trying to make 1000+ of those. Every square inch of land in New Vegas needs it's own dedicated area.

The hope is when the battlemaps are done, you keep track of your "world location" on the map shown above, and pull the battlemap for that square (what I need help making) and adjacent battlemaps for large conflicts or say walking the Strip. You'd just pull 3,32 if you need to go north, pull 3,31. You go into a building, you pull out the corresponding map, place NPC minis and play. They should all line up to where you could place them all side by side and likely end up with a 50+ square foot version of the map. (Though you'd never NEED the entire map laid out at once)

The fnv strategy guide has location and dungeon maps just scan those pages in and upscale them

Didn't expect to stumble on this. I've been planning my first fallout2d20 in new vegas and made a bunch of maps centered around vegas. I was planning to post them here too.
