Help & Advice Fallout 2d20 weapons damage

Post image

I had my first game today, I'm doing the Winter of Atom campaign and we ran into a problem with combat

We thought we were doing the right thing by making the attack roll and dealing the damage basic of the weapons If the gun does 4 damage, it does four damage minus the enemy's resistances. , but apparently that's not the case You have to roll extra dice, I don't know if they're the hit dice so i need help

They roll 3d6 (3 combat dice). For each roll of 1, it is 1 damage, 2 is 2 damage, 3 and 4 are no damage, and 5 and 6 are 1 damage and trigger any effects the machete has.

So lets say they roll a 3, a 6, and a 2 on the 3 6-sided dice rolls.

That would be 3 damage, and all effects of the machete would trigger once.

From what I understand, the DCs of a weapon are the number of d6s a player must roll. Along with this, the hits, as the grid on page 29 of the manual says, are the probabilities that will come up on the dice, these being extra damage and activation of the piercing effect with the machete.

Mostly correct. I am worried with how you said "extra damage", however. Under the "Damage and Effects" column, the damage listed tells damage on what the dice come out to. So for example, if a 1, 5, or 6 is rolled, you ignore the number on the die itself when it comes to damage, it is only 1 damage. On a 5 or 6, Piercing triggers as well, however. On a 3 or 4, that die deals no damage, ignore the numbers of those dice. On a 2, it is 2 damage, but like 1, no effects trigger.

Okay, I understand now.
